When you respond to a discussion, do you really try to give the best answer

Or do you just put down a few thoughts and are done with it. I try to put my best foot forward on a serious discussion and answer to the best of my knowledge. But even when it is a lighthearted discussion, I want to make sure my answer is clear and easy to understand. Am I going overboard, or is that how it should be?
Of course if it is a joke, or something that doesn't really require a response, I will let the poster know I was there and enjoyed the content.
What do you really do when you respond, lighthearted, all serious, or what? And why?

I too try to give the best when I respond, as far as possible. It gives me the greatest pleasure to read that the person who posted the discussion liked my answer and I generally choose questions that really interest me and where I will have some worthwhile answer.
'' If 't were done 'twere done well and quickly.''Shakespeare.
Though I do not vouch for the 'quickly' bit, I like to do it well. I hate it sometimes when I have overlooked a typing error or a grammatical mistake too.
There is nothing that says that it shlould or should not be except that the rules prohibit certain words and I also have a vague feeling that one liners are not appreciated.
But we write for our own pleasure and what is the point not being totally sincere when one responds? That is why I too take it a bit seriously and answer. I used to get thrilled even when I got best answer in Yahoo Answers. I don't think you are going overboard . You are being just normal like any other good writer.

Yes i do give my best response here. I know giving a long comment takes too long to proceed to another discussion. But the more i give good comments or advise there is something that im happy giving a piece of advise to those who really needs help.
Maybe my hubby is thinking joining here is just a waste of time, but for me it is not.Im enjoying what im doing and thats the most important thing.

I always give the best answer I am capable of, whether it's a serious discussion or not. I'm just not the type of person to slap something down when it comes to writing, and I see this as writing, even though it's a forum.
It takes a lot of time for me to write responses sometimes, so money-wise I would probably be better off if I took it less seriously. However, I have a lot of friends here who seem to enjoy my responses, so I think it's worth it.

Every discussions needs a different approach. Actually, it depends on the topic of the discussion. If I'm really interested then I'll give my best because I know what I'm saying and I have a favorable amount of knowledge about it. But that doesn't mean that I don't give my best if the topic is unfamiliar to me, it's just that my opinion will be limited to what I only know. When it comes to responding, I'm trying my best to be as polite as possible because respect should be given to everyone. But I admit that I avoid discussing about religion because often times that is a source of misunderstanding in forums just like mylot.

I try to answer discussions in the best way that I can and if I have nothing to say I simply do not respond. I try to respond only to discussions that pertain to my interests.

I always give my best, since I only respond to those topics which I am well aware of. I don't post for a cent, I always post because I know I can provide help and give better informations.
But I also add some lighter remarks on my discussion, since I don't want to be always looked by other members as a VERY serious poster here since I really find that boring!LoL
It would be nice if they can also relate, which I think is the most important thing for other members to easily appreciate the message I'm delivering!;)

As long as I have sufficient and enough knowledge and inputs to share with the subject or topic, then I would do and try my best to answer the discussions.
Like you, I make sure that my answer is clear and easy to understand so that the originator and the responder as well will be able to understand my comment so easily.
Have a nice day and take care!
