A Strange Occurance On Halloween Night For Me

Okay, what I'm about to reveal...Either you can accept it, or think, oh, no, this MyLotter is nuts. LOL
As you know, I had a discussion as I was depressed over the death of one of my kitties, Footie just recently.
So on Halloween night, being that I'm of the Pagan/Wiccan path, in which Halloween is known as Samhain and is the Celtic New Year, it is felt that the veil between the living and dead is the thinnest. Many of us who are on the pagan/wiccan path, besides setting up our "altars" for Samhain, may even place a plate that is representative and for those who have departed and no longer with us anymore. We don't fear the dead, and while it could be considered a somber occasion it is one to remember our departed.
So for the heck of it, I set on my altar a special plate on top with some cat food, as a remembrance
not only to my recently departed kitty, Footie, but as a remembrance to all my kitties.
Well last night I just wasn't feeling that great, missed out on a party that I could've gone to and stayed home and tried to catch up on MyLotting. Now my altar and where I had set the plate is in the alcove that serves as my bedroom. It's behind me from where my computer desk is, in the living room, so I can just turn around to look into the bedroom. My two current kitties were sound asleep on THEIR sofa right next to the computer desk. Okay, now sometime has passed, and I had to go to the bedroom to get something. My mouth fell open. The plate with the cat food, I had set aside for my departed kitties was licked clean. And I KNOW it wasn't my two kitties that hopped up to the altar and ate it, for as I said, they had been keeping me company out in the living room all night. The only explanation is, is that some of my fur babies came to visit me...didn't see them, but they just must have been here, how else could the food have disappeared??
Okay, I know...sounds like Twilight Zone here...LOL
BUT..okay. Come and share. Have any of YOU have something "unusual" occur on Halloween night?

It sounds like your Footie came to visit you. Or you have mice which I highly doubt because you have two cats in your house. And mice dont dare step foot into a house with cats.LOL I do believe your sweet Footie was by and now he is thanking you. Ive come to realize anything is possible in this crazy world we live in.LOL

From what I remember you've had you're own little visits from Blackie. I guess both Blackie and my Footie were telling us they're okay now, right?

Not so much an ocurrence, more a feeling really. I finally managed to get to bed and settle down to sleep. My partner and Moomin were both already snoring quietly but I couldn't relax into sleep. Something was bugging me but I couldn't figure out what. I couldn't close my eyes, it was just an odd feeling. I got out of bed and went downstairs to make myself a hot chocolate in the hope that it would help me relax and I sat on the sofa in the living room sipping the drink when I heard a clatter from the other side of the room. A photograph in a small frame had fallen over and I realised that it was the picture of my late Dad.

Wow...no doubt it was your dad visiting you. I've sometimes have heard that about a framed picture/photograph falling for no apparent reason and I think the reason behind it, is because the spirit of the person wants one to know that they are visiting

PS--kind of strange though your kitty didn't sense something though as cats are usually very perceptive. My cats act a bit weird now and then and I swear they must sense something I can't see

i believe ya. i have had many cats who have passed, one just recently. my other cats play where she passed. i know she is with me. maybe your cat was hungry. no one feeds them like their moms. right. i had my light turn on the other night. it is a touch light and i was sitting right next to it and no one was around, so i say it was my kitty who passed.

I often think my former cats visit me on occasion, as my two present cats are very laid back, and quiet. Every once in awhile though, they go "bonkers" for no reason, so maybe they are "playing" with my former kitties???

Yes, you are nuts. You found the nest of the Crazy Bird and are laughing at the eggs. We never had any strange occurrences,. no strange sights other than the children that came to the door or were on the streets. My husband was giving out candies and I heard the usual,"They should have come by now." It was six o'clock and then around seven, "ah here they come," but I went to Choir Practice and besides, unlike what you believe, I think that Halloween was invented by a Celtic Dentist called Brian The Tootpuller."
You see, back then, in Ancient Ireland and Gaul, people had such good teeth that they would grow old and die, before they had any cavities. Well Brian the Toothpuller was upset that the only business he could get was when there was a battle or a fight and someone broke another one's tooth.
Now there was a honey hive near by, and while his wife was getting honey and making some candies, Brian asked, "Why don't we sell it to the rest of the villagers and then make a holiday. The children can go door to door, they can get the candy and I will be in business."
And that is Halloween was born and dentisty has been a great success, ever since. :)

I've always known you were crazy, but I love you anyway!!!!
Don't know what happened to the cat food! I try to keep an open mind about things, but I'm not sure spirits can consume food. Interesting happening, however! I have never had anything like that happen on Halloween or any other time.

Yes I'm crazy as a loon..LOL..I don't know...I've heard people who have had spirits in their home move objects around. So why not spirit cats who eat a meal?? I've had a lot of weird "paranormal" experiences happen in my life, and I guess because its in my nature, I just never thought it, well ..odd, I've just accepted it.

Wow! That's really something, pyewacket! It's like that old saying, "You've gotta believe! Personally, I think that all sorts of things are possible in this big wide world we live in. So, why wouldn't your little fur babies come and partake of the offering you left for them? It was their way of letting you know that it was appreciated. I hope it gave you some peace and eased your mind over poor Footie.

My friend has a similar story . During Halloween, many people put some plate with food in their altar just like you but our family does not practice is so I'm not sure of the reason why they are doing that. One of my guy friend told me that one time, they decided to come out of the house to visit the cemetery. No one was inside and they don't have any pets. When they came back, the food was partly eaten and they were sure that the door was locked so no one came in. He said that it was really scary but in my mind I think it's just a rat that had eaten it. But you really never know...

You're so right..there could have been a "logical" explanation, but then again, one never knows

I think this is totally awesome!! And I don't think you are crazy at all because I am a believer of things such as the paranormal. I don't see how the food actually got 'eaten' though because I've never really put thought to the afterlife eating things of substance...that's strange.
I have not had any weird experiences like this, not really. I'm sure you're a lot more experienced with this sorta thing.
Happy Samhain! Have a Blessed Day!

I've had a few unexplainable experiences that would be considered "paranormal" and couldn't be explained by "logic"--I'm never freaked out about it since I've come to accept it all..LOL

Whatever happened, you asked for energy to be back and it was back...I truly believe that animals are still there.
Footie is visiting you for sure...giving you the signals from the other site....
I used to live with friendly ghost for 3 years...dematerialization is one of the signals they can give you...

Yes, I believe that our former pets, all pets in fact do have souls, so if a person can "visit" why not departed pets?

I can quite believe that, because something similar happened to me last year. The food didn't disappear from the altar, but as you will know, some is put aside and left for the faeries and passing spirits, and the apple core buried? Well, not only did the food disappear, and it was not stuff that birds eat, but the apple half and the core to the other half I'd eaten, had been dug up, and there was an indentation in the earth beside where it had been buried, almost as though somebody had rested there.
This year was a different experience... involving my scrying bowl. I thought it was me shaking at first but nope... the water went completely flat in between, but every few seconds it was like a stormy sea, lapping right up to the top rim, in a circular movement. I had it cupped in my hands and at first, I was quite alarmed, but I got used to it. It was the first time that's happened to me with such ferocity, at least. Nothing harmed me, but they were there!
I have lots of stories, not all on Samhain, but as you suggested, I'm starting to write them out in a manuscript ready to publish.
Brightest Blessings.

That's really special and sweet. And I for one don't think your nuts! I think your kitty friends where there with you and wanted you to know it :)
I haven't had anything of the like happen to me...yet :)

I always have guests for Samhain. I'm sure a lot of people think I'm crazy for saying this, but I have certain loved ones who always come to me on that day. I set plates for them. Sometimes the food disappears, sometimes it doesn't. This year, none of the food actually disappeared, except the two mints I added to my great-grandfather's plate as an afterthought. However, I smelled a lot of the scents I relate with my loved ones, and heard them speaking to me. They always speak to me. And the tokens that I set at their places moved, which is pretty typical as well.
I suppose I'm just lucky that I always get these sorts of visitations? Or perhaps I'm crazier than you? ;p

Aaaww!! That's awesome. I'm glad your kitty came for a visit.
I experienced something similiar a few years ago for Samhain, for my baby rooster who was murdered that same year.
Anyway, I didn't experience anything that strange for halloween. I found out that it is true that divination works awesomely on halloween, 'cause I got a very clear reading for the next year, but otherwise not that much exciting happened lol.

Hi pyewacket!Happy Friday:)I dont know, but hehe,i believe in this sort of thing happening.I believe in the paranormal anyway and after life si why not.Ive never experienced this before what you have, but have experienced sometimes that a believed pet has come to visit me by my feelings of a presence or feeling something rub on the outside of my lower leg like a cat would.I know,i know, hehe.Halloween night,a couple of times have felt a certain presence around me,if im outside late that night i feel like and bad presence then as i enter the door and shut it,the feeling goes away. Its weird but ive felt it,i thought maybe its because being halloween and all i was just paranoid and thinking too much about "halloween".
Peanutjar:)
