i think teachers r their to guide the students they must not be allowed to punish them in any sort they like
their shold be a sense of motivation
they should encourage and help them in completing their tasks by this they can encourage more participation by the students
in the class & otherwise

Actually, the law should be enforced that a teacher cannot physically by any chance penalise a student. Physical punishment should be considered a serious crime. It's strange the government hasn't done anything about it. Teachers cane their students, slap them, beat them like anything. That's totally wrong. Even physical trainers impose hard punishments. The law is not strict enough because the school principal supports such horrendous punishments.

i totallly agree wid u bcuz for the proper functiniong of the society their must be a relationship of trust b/w the two parties and
every one should participate in the trust development of the two
one other thing must also be kept in mind that
the students must respect their teachers
they must not be allowed to humiliate the teacher
because the teacher is the drain from which we will be able to learn.

Yeah, that's true. teachers are the second parents of the students, their guidance counselor, their facilitaor and their friend. But there are times tht students goes beyond the limitations of the teachers' contol that sometimes use punishment of course to correct the wrong doing of a student. It is not bad to punish if your intention is good. We even have a saying that, 'spare the rod, spoils the child'. So i think i was able to give some answer to your sentiments. Thanks

Thats all depends on the Kid nature and mentality. Every teacher want to make his student to go in a good and diciple path. When she punish his student it dosent meant she is doing purposefully to physically harm you. She may be thinking to create a fear on things make you to punish. She will always do these things after all trails in convensing. Not only a teacher..if a boss in a company also punish you when you are going to a job.. Why can you get train of all these from school itself. Try to enjoy the punishment, they will become sweet memories to you if you are convinsed or changed your way which you make you punish

Teachers should punish students but the motive of punishment should be positive. The teacher is not allowed to give any sort of punishment. There are certain rules for giving punishment also and that should be followed strickly. A teacher is not only guide but also has responsiblilty to look after the children in a proper way.

My own opinion about this is that there are times when the student done something wrong and teacher should do something in order to teach the student that what he had done was really wrong. Penalties may come in any form, it can be non-hurting that can help the student realize his/her mistakes, another is the cruel physical punishments that somehow cannot help the student to realize his/her mistakes at all. This may lead to trauma or hatred against the teacher.
The teacher must not be allowed to hurt the students, for they will really violate the law.
It is not easy to be a teacher especially if your students are really stubborn and naughty and cantankerous. However the best way to discipline them is not by hurting them physically, not even mentally and emotionally.
The teachers should must be careful in uttering words that can hurt the feelings of the student and can lower the self-esteem of the student.

I don't think teachers should give penalities to the students, especially physical and mental penalities. If the students make mistakes, the teachers should be patient to talk to the students. And make them realize the mistakes and try to avoid to make the same mistakes again.

You're absolutely right bout this. It is definitely a teacher's strategy to make the child participate and learn. Students are easily lured by active discussions. The teacher therefore must give enticing activities for them. However, the teachers aren't saints and there are just some students who get into their nerves. This is probably why some teachers tend to punish the kid. As a rule, the school should not allow the teacher to give punishments. This is the best way to drive your students away. One of my students from another country transfered here in ours because her teachers really whipped them when they misbehaved. I was surprised to learn that some countries really practice that. As for your question, No the teachers must not give penalties but the child must be given some restrictions in doing some things to let the child know that s/he did something wrong. This is just to let the child rethink what s/he has done.

It all depends on what you mean by penalities. If you are talking about punishing children with like spankings or old school catholic schools- I don't agree with that because I don't think its the teachers responsibility. Also, it concerns me that there could be a teacher who simply doesn't like a child for no apparent reason other than their own. That would be unjust punishment. However, I do believe that if a child is misbehaving in school the teacher should have the right to take away certain luxuries like recess or administer after school detention. I don't think that is out of the realm of being a teacher.

I do not see penalties as negative. These (penalties) if used/given properly can discipline or encourage the child to do as what he/she is told to do. Of course the penalties that I mean are those that will not hurt them physically. Penalties are essential to show that you are serious about their learning and that they should do the same. Penalties that hurt a child physically should be forbidden though.

I think that teachers should be allowed to give a certain level of punishment for bad behavior. Things such as loss of recess or losing out on a fun activity for bad behavior. You are right that is a teachers job to encourage and motivate a child, but at some point bad behavior gets in the way of other students learning and needs to be dealt with.

They should be given a chance to discipline the students. But not to the extent of inflicting physical or emotional harm. There are many ways to do it. They just have to choose the right and the most fitted one.
