Pole dancing taboos?

Although generally thought of in the light of adult entertainent, pole dancing has recently become a very popular fitness craze. Do you think there are still many taboos around pole dancing? i.e. would you considering doing it at the gym? would you not do it even if you wanted to because you'd be scared of what others would think? Do you think it's good fun and not a problem in today's age.
Remember: I'm talkin pole dancing as fitness... not stripping and lap dancing etc (although I sense discussions will overlap, can only be a good thing to learn more!)

Well the pole dancing I've seen has been quite a remarkable display of strength and agility. The strength in the legs to clamp onto the pole upside down and then make a controlled descent makes my ears sore just to see it. haha
No, anything to take the boredom out of training in the gym just has to be good.
Are you an expert?
