So since Stephen Colbert cannot run as a Democrat, or a Republican, what do you think the odds are that he might run as an Independant? I am thinking it would be a slick and savvy political move on his part that would rival any that a professional politician could think of. Perhaps, it will have the same effect on the public as the old "You want what you can't have" syndrome.

I heard he was still going to run independant and asked all of his fans to do a write in ballot for him in the 08 elections. Of course that will never happen but it would be really interseting to see how this plays out.

I think you might be right, but I thinkn he is very serious about running for office and if he has to do it as an independant he will.

At the close of the Thursday installment of The Report, he gave a concession speech and I don't think he's going to make any more moves, actually.
Just like Michal Moore did, he proclaimed that everyday people should run just like he did, but us seasoned political animals know that not anybody can run because both Democrats and Republicans have seen to it that election laws were written in their favor and to disallow anyone else from running without jumping thru lots of unreasonable hoops.
He sounded gracious in his concession, but he also sounded hollow. Truth of the matter is that Stephen Colbert is America and You Can't Either.
