Both of my dogs came prenamed - one was a stud for a guide dog organization, so there was not changing his name, his son, was released due to medical problems.
Many suggestions were made for guide dog names to the organization - such as retina, pupil, iris and cornea --what can I say some people have as sense of humor.

We have two pets right now. A dog, Cody and a cat, Cloey. Originally they both belonged to our daughter. She moved out when she was younger, moved back home and then moved out again and couldn't take the pets with her. We've had them now 13 yrs. Both have great personalities and are very good with everyone including kids. I think she simply liked both names.

We named our kitten Cookie. She is black and white and looks like an Oreo, but I chose to call her Cookie because I don't like the name Oreo.

We've got a Dachshund male....when I saw him at the pet shop, I immediately fell in love with him. He was about only 3 months. My fiance has decided to get him for me, and we were at the counter for a paperworks to bring him home, I asked him "so...what would be for his name??". My fiance quickly said "How's Tako???".
Tako means octopus in Japanese, well.....my fiance LOVES octopus when it comes to sushi. He can't get an ehough of it and all he was thinking at that time was octopus...lol
Also....when we saw the puppy's face we thought the sound of name and his appearacne were sorta...match.
So our dog's name is Tako. Sometimes people misunderstands by Taco. Even at Vet office at the first time, they wrote his name "Taco" and my fiance had to fix it....:)

I have two dogs and a lizard. A 1 year old Australian Shepard Named Star Gazer. We got her for a christmas present last year. The kids wanted to name her Scooby doo but I said no. So I gave them three names to choose from and they liked Star.
My Lizard is a 1 1/2 year old Bearded Dragon Named Piston. My Husband is a Mechanic and came up with Piston. Sounded neat for a lizard. Then we just recently got a new pup. She is a 3 month old Puggle Jug{pug, beagle, jack russle} named Hemi Layla. I liked Layla and then my husband who loves cars said Hemi. That was that we decided on Hemi Layla. I think it has a nice sound to it.
Here is a Picture of our animals. They all get along great!

When I was growing up my parents gave me apuppy for a birthday gift I named the puppy Tippy. Not sure why.
A few years ago I had a cat that I named Hush-Hush. She was a stray that we took in as a kitten. She had been attacked by another cat. We had to take her to the vets. She had a huge open wound by her back leg. We had to nurse her back to health. Give her medicine and daily baths to clean the wound. She was so good about the baths. Just sit and let us bathe her. She was our baby.

I just got a kitten about a month ago and I named her Saba. Saba is the Japanese word for Spanish Mackeral Nigiri Sushi. Its my favourite sushi. Also my cat is grey and the Saba has silver(grey) skin. I wanted to name her something unique... Although by her personality I think we should have named her diablo.

We have a older (13 yrs old) female cat named Jasmine and a 10 month old boy kitten named Sasper. We has to change Sasper's anme from Sassparilla because we found out that *she* was a boy, but knew his name as Sass. It was an odd situation, but it worked out in the end.

I used to go with names that were descriptive of the character of my pet. The last time I named a pet of mine I called him "Sydney" because cockatiels are from Australia. Kind of wanted to do it different this time around.
I'm glad I chose his name that way because it fits well for him.
