Long story short, a friend of a family friend made a really awesome dvd out of family photos for my uncle for his birthday recently. The video was such a hit that my grandfather wants one made for all his kids.
Since I swiped a lot of photos (and took quite a few on my own Kodak Disc camera[yeah, I'm that old!] year after year), I've been shirking my studies scanning and cutting photos.
Please tell me if you have ever done anything like this or now that you have heard of it may do it.
As I was sitting here cutting photos out of groups and trimming out edges, tears and of course unwanted persons, I thought to myself: why don't I share these oldies but goodies with my friends here at myLot?I'll leave one photo now and one with each reply to each person that responds. I thought something like this might be appropriate for the holidays coming up. Sharing family photos instead of my regular sarcastic/humorus/political graphics.
Please feel free to take this opportunity to share your family/family pet photos with us if you feel comfortable with that.

I have been doing that for a while now. A Lot of family and friends really enjoy receiving such a gift be it family photos, special days.
Even for beginners there are programs that make it really easy to make such a dvd and it's a wonderful keepsake.
I have been doing them for my mom because it is easier to send her a disc than tons of pictures and she lives really far from us. I always find the musics she likes the best and that go well with each theme to add to the whole thing or sometimes I just go with narration, like telling a story. She always loves them and tells me that she often goes trough all of them and it helps us feeling closer to us.
My daughter also made one for one of her best friends that went to live in another country. She got all the photos of them and their friends, some images that she made about special days and things they shared and her friend loved it.

It does sound like it might be fun once all the sorting and scanning is over, lol. Great shot of your son. The expression on his face is priceless!Thank you for stopping by and sharing your experience.

AH yes.. the scanning and sorting :) I know what you mean:)
thankfully I already have the old pictures in computer discs for quite a while and the new ones are either taken with the digital camera and downloaded to the computer or if I still use my regular camera I ask them not to print them but to put on disk,I rarely print pictures now and when I do it's from the disk.
this picture you posted here is just adorable:):):)His whole pose is just so cute LOL
I have to be honest, I don't usually post any personal pictures. But since it's oldies I thought it was ok. I guess this picture of my son is the only from us on the web LOL

I myself have lots and lots of photos on my computer and I've been meaning to find the time to put them all on one dvd disk, photos are great for looking back on some stuff and brings back memories of certain days.... like in my photo of my son, what a silly boy!

I have several cd's that are like photo scrap books to me, but they were only made in the possibility that i lost everything on my computer.
With today's technology though it bothers me that everything is automated, computerized and so much more, so few people do scrap books and picture quits and such, so that's something that i've really taken an interest in, printing off my photos and getting them ready for scrapbooking and such is something that i really love doing because so few people do it anymore.

Funny you should mention automation. I was just pondering the wonders of automated tech support/customer service.
I'm going to try to finish scanning in the buggers tomorrow and get them burnt to DVD and over to mom's before she has a cow.
I noticed you didn't leave a photo. If you don't feel comfortable with family photos, your beloved dogs are welcome (and as much part of the family as 2-legged critters).
Here's one of my former husky, Sheba:

Great shot. Everyone looks really happy, or at least like ya'll had a really fun day.
Scrapbooks are fun, I have yet to finish one, but they are fun, lol. If I ever run across the one I started in 3rd grade I'll probably die of a laughter fit.
Here's one of me and my cousins with our grampa.
It was taken probably at least 15 years ago. The boys are 22 and 31 now...but they'll always be my baby cuz's, ya know? Even though they are huge now, lol.
