I was thinking what you guys do with clothes you don't wear anymore?Do you sell them? Or give it to charity? i was just putting summer clothes away and taking winter clothes to my closet and find many clothes I don't wear anymore and also find few peices I never really had on. So should I sell them?Is it really worth it?

We donate our clothing to a special organization in our area. I was adopted as a tiny baby and the orphanage that took care of me until I was adopted gets all our clothing. Will always appreciate the beginning I had with the organization even though I don't remember anything because I was way too young. You could do a garage sale but it's my understanding most items you almost have to give away. It could be fun if you had enough neighbors or friends involved. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

If they are really worn I toss them in the garbage. But if they are in pretty good shape I give them to charity. I do have a friend who sells them at a second hand store and makes quite a bit of money doing it. It might be worth it.

We normally donate cloths which are in good condition to poor people. Some times my servant maid takes my cloths as well as my kids and wife dresses for their usuage. I suggest you it will be nice to give it people who are need and not able to afford to buy new ones.Specially for kids and old age people.

I like to give all of my old clothes to charities. Of course, I only give away the clothes that are in good condition and can be worn. There are alot of charities out there that will take clothes and other items and either hand them out to those who need them, or sell them and use the money to help the people. Either way I feel ilke I'm helping people that are less fortunate then I am.

I always give mine away, either to the charity shops or else I will give them to the collections that come to the door. Its good to give them away and know that they will be used again. The thing is, my son's clothes are grown out of a lot quicker than other clothes as he is a baby still. So they are never worn out. It seems a lot of people in Ireland are not really in to second hand clothes either so hardly anyone wants to take them. Charity organizations who ship them to underdeveloped poorer countries is the way to go

First I have a big yard sale with all my stuff that I no longer wear, want or need. Then after the sale, I bag everything up and offer it on my FreeCycle group. Anything that is still here after 24 hours, I give to charity. I do the same with older bed linens, blankets, furniture, etc. I figure if I can make a few dollars great. FreeCycle usually takes care of the majority of the stuff. With only 1 car, freecycle is just easier for me since they come and pick the stuff up.

I usually give away our old clothes. Sometimes there are those people who come knocking on our doors, asking for help, be it food or cash. And I give them our old clothes. I haven't tried selling our old clothes because for one thing, I'm not sure if it will sell. And secondly, I much prefer to give it to those people who needs it more.

Hi Laurika, LOL I do this once a year then later on in the year I think, what did I do with that? LOL I dont always remember what I give away. I clean out my closet and donate it to the Salvation Army or something. If I think its worth that. Some things get thrown away. If youve never really worn them, then get some use out of them. I have a friend that has so many clothes she is always finding stuff she forgot she bought. Bay xx

We use a site called freecycle. It's to post things that you want to get rid of but don't want ending up in a landfill. All the states are there and under each state different cities. I use it to find things I want/need and get rid of things that still have life left. If that doesn't work then I take things to Goodwill or Salvation Army.

You should definitely sell them. Extra holiday money. You can do it on ebay. Or try a faster route. If you have any local consignment shops, they may buy the clothes from you. I don't really like consigning my stuff, which is where the shop puts the stuff out to sell & you split the profit with the shop owner. I'd rather just sell it & have it over with.

It is not that we are stingy that we do not buy new clothes. But I hate any wastage of materials as long as it is still useful. My father gives all his clothes (mostlys hirts) which perfectly fits me and he used the light colours and I do not mind the colours. I also get my father-in-laws shirts and trousers. AFter I use it for a year or so, it is passed on to my son to whom it fits. He is growing tall and fat and we have no probken if altering the clothes. If the clothes are torn, then we donot do darning. We just use it as waste cleaning cloth.

While putting summer clothes away and taking winter clothes to my sloset, these questions arised in my mind too. I thought to sell the ones that I have never worn, but the same day my friends came to my home and they liked those tops so I gave it to them. Usually in every summer vacations when I go to my hometown, I take all the old clothes with me and give it to my grandma. Then, she gives them to my relatives (whose financial conditions aren't good), her maids or anybody whom she finds that they would use it. I have never sold any of my used or unused clothes till date. But I know many people who do it and they say its worth it although they don't get the money that they paid for the clothes originally but they can buy new clothes by selling old ones. I think you can try selling your clothes on ebay. vani ^__^

I will give it to someone else, such as my friends and relatives. I don't want to throw them away because it is a big waste. I don't think I can sell them because here nobody wants to buy second hand clothes.

I recycle the fabric, buttons, and notions and store them for when I want to make some little craft project. Some of my prettier things I turn into outfits for my stuffed animals, just as if I have some yarn left over after knitting a scarf, I will use it to make teeny scarves for teddy bears. When I look at this I laugh because it is hard to believe, but one of our teddy bears is wearing a vest that after several trips through the washing machine shrunk to exactly his size. It is hard to imagine having been so skinny.

Believe it or not I was just thinking of something to do with my old clothes today. I need to clean out my room and closet because it seems that my room is being taken over my clutter of clothes, now i have a "floor-robe" instead of just wardrobe! Im really wanting to take them somewhere that will give me some money for them since they are really nice clothes, but I dont think thats going to happen. So I might try a yard sell or platos closet or something and if that doesnt work i will give them to goodwill or some other shop around here!
