While both of these sites have amazing capabilities and i belong to both, i have to admit that myspace is great for people that are into music venues and producing their own music, but most of my friends are on facebook. i prefer facebook because there are a lot of fun games and other crazy stuff on there.
how about you?

I am biased towards myspace. Looking at website rankings (in terms of how many people visit a site), myspace has been in the top 10 for a long time. i just now checked (using alexa.com), and it's in the top 10. myspace has just been there longer; myspace is 6, and facebook is 7.
I just find it better, not just for indy music, but also for indy films, artists, and others to have a chance to promote their work, without being put to the side by the big record labels and publishers.

I closed my account on Myspace and never open any on Facebook. I am only on Yuwie...
I don't know if Facebook is family friendly or not, but this is what I am looking for...

I prefer facebook to be honest because I found it much better to get in touch with those I had lost contact with whereas myspace was more people who wanted to know famous people, whether they knew them or not they had them on their friends list, facebook is all about people you know and you are far less likely to be hacked on facebook than myspace.

Facebook is more stable and sound, than Myspace. Even so, I'm more used to, and prefer, Myspace. I use both, though.

I like them both, but myspace is better in my opinion because I don't really like all the extra stuff you can do on it..
Instead of talking with your friends you can be a werewolf and bite them? facebook is very overrated.

I have both a Facebook and a Myspace account (as do both my kids) but I have to say that I much prefer Facebook..In fact the three of us will be deleting our Myspace accounts simply because there is too much spam, phishing, and overall b.s over there...

I think that myspace and facebook are 2 different things. Facebook is more to search fr old friend. Myspace is more to make new friend.
I never used myspace and still not interessted t go on it.
I really like facebok and I find s much old friend on that :)

I agree with about Myspace is great for people are into music or people that have a band, there is something that I don't like in Myspace and it is that there is a lot of fake profiles and there is a lot of people trying to scam you and people that just want get page views for their web site, I think Mypace is very wide use for spam, something that bothered me about Myspace was that I don't know how or who where posting spam messages in the bulletin board on Myspace, I was really annoying I think it was some kids of bug because I change my password a lot and it didn't stop, I like more facebook, it is very hard to get spammed there and there is very few profiles, anyway there is hard to add people that is not in your network so It is good privacy but if you want to know new people through facebook it is hard, anyway there is some application to date and stuff.

I really prefer MySpace, because I AM into music more than anything... I have lots of band 'friends'and can stay up on their appearances so I don't miss them!
Facebook is so quiet! And there aren't as many interesting groups to join... but I haven't been there very long, so I'll keep looking around for a while and give it the benefit of the doubt.

I am also a frequent visitor to both of those social sites, but I'd have to agree with you. MySpace is definitely a better place for those people who want to promote bands or get acquainted with new artists. It's becoming a great way for local bands to make a larger name for themselves without spending a lot of money, and I fully support that.
Facebook, on the other hand, provides an easy way for students to connect to each other and now that they have added so many applications ("distractions" as I like to call them) it's really easy to spend an hour on their site without realizing that time was passing quickly. Most of my good friends are on facebook because I met a lot of them in college, but the people I meet randomly are always on MySpace, so it really depends on what you're looking to do with your social networking.
As for me, I would have to say I prefer Facebook more, if only for the distractions.
