I've heard that when a cat is wagging its tail, it means that he or she is angry. Is this true? What do you think? Do you know any other 'body language' what we can get to know what our pet is thinking?

Hi there...cat's tail movement can have many meanings and it's not uncommon to mistakenly believe one means something entirely different. A hard back and forth swoosh, could mean the cat is annoyed and if it's ears are tucked backward while this is going on then it could mean the cat is angry, etc. However, there are standard tail communication behaviours that the following chart shows on tail movement: http://www.messybeast.com/images/cat-chat3.png which you may find enjoyably helpful.

Yes it is true. Also when your cat is rubbing its head against you its marking its territory. There are glads there and it is putting its scent on you. If you look your cat in the eyes and then close your eyes and look away first that means you are submissive to your cat. If your cat closes his/her eyes and looks away first that means he/she is submissive to you.

Roll over cat - cat rolling over
Iread once that when cats are taken to animal shelters they tell by their tails if they are ferral cats, the article said if a cat walks with the tail down it is a ferral cat and they basically get put down. I know when my cat is glad to see me when he rolls over, whenever I come home I get out of my car and my cat immediately does a sort of roll over on the ground.

Yes, a cat wagging (switching) its tail is clearly angry and is warning its owner(s) to back off. The only exception, I think, is when a cat's tail moves slowly from one side to the next. That means that the cat is undecided about something and is thinking about it. A growl means that the cat is angry, as do flattened ears. A fluffed-up tail also signals anger and/or fright.

It depends on what you mean by "wagging." If it is waving about slowly, and is relaxed, then the cat is happy. If it is stiff and twitching at the tip, the cat is annoyed. If it is slashing back & forth very rapidly, don't touch unless you count your fingers when you pull your bloody stump back from the cat. Does that help?

That is true. The other one I know of is if your cat is looking directly at you and slowly closes his/her eyes. This means they are comfortable where they are and more importantly, they are comfortable being with you. There are the obvious ones of fear when the back is arched and the fur is bushy, and wanting to be scritched or to play when they roll and go belly up. These are the ones I know...I'll look to see what others add after me.

When a cat wags its tail it is happy the same as when it purrs,if the tail is curled over the back they are angry cats are very funny about how they let you know when they are angry happy or upset and sick.I love cats and had alot as a child so I learned there body language as much as possible. Good luck and have a super day.
