Today the Writer's Guild of America went on strike, which will grind scripted television shows to a halt after they exhaust the current scripts in a couple of months. Do you think the writers were right to strike?
I am on the side of the writers. I think they deserve greater compensation in residuals from DVD sales and residuals from digital media such as Itunes and Amazon unboxed sales. The writers are the bedrock of television, and they deserve fair compensation for their work. I'll be very sad to see my favorite shows come to a halt soon, but I support what the writers are doing and hope that the studios will agree to a fair compensation package.

Greed is what makes the world go round. Maybe they are not being paid enough for their work or maybe they are. My question is when is enough enough? This strike is all about money. It has nothing to do with benefits because they have that. I thought the studio paid the writers to write. The writers do not have to pay the actors and actresses of the shows or the other bills like lights and rent for the studio. If the studio is not making money that the writers will not be able to get paid. Then again maybe the writers should only get a percentage of the show and not a salary at all. I wish them all the luck in getting more money. I guess if I was working in the television field I would want all I could get as well. This is America.
