Is it wrong to feed the birds to fatten them up to watch a sparrow hawk come in your yard? We have a male and a female hawk in our area, which is very unusual. We had been feeding the birds for about a year, when a few months ago, I spotted a hawk in our yard. Yesterday, my brother and I were able to watch it swoop down and catch a sparrow. It was absolutely beautiful to watch. So, should we keep feeding the birds?

Personally speaking I can't see anything wrong in feeding birds, I always do it, particularly this time of year where food becomes scarce in the Winter months! Put it this way birds could die if they don't get enough feed, so by you feeding them you are not fattening them up per se but prolonging their life and besides if they give you so much joy then why not reward them? I love watching nature and I always leave food out and not just for birds too.
