How do we gain respect?

The only way to earn respect is to BE respectful. When a person acts respectfully to those around them, and respects themselves and their decisons, then those around them notice it and respond in kind. Those that don't respond to it aren't worth the time, anyway.

You never gain respect ,you get it from others,this is where you see a much difference in GAIN AND GET.you can gain respect if you have money and you have power in your hands,but you get respect with your love and humanity.the word gain itself is not suitable here since gain is a business oriented word where as get is not and you should never associate respect with business.the ultimate is obtained from hearts and not by gestures or words.i think you would also agree with me.

In my opinion, respect should and always must be present in every person.. I believe it is not only commanded but is a requirement in every individual.. Sad to say that the reality now is that there are people who respects only those who respects them back and there are those who no matter how much respect you give them, they didn't care and stays unrespectful to others. Maybe that it is true that one earns respect if he or she gives respect. We should indeed do that. I would also say that we still have to respect a person even if he or she isn't respectable at all.

I believe that if you wanted to earn respect from others,you should also show respect first from yourself then give respect from the others.like what the golden rule says,"DO TO OTHERS WHAT YOU WOULD HAVE THEM TO DO UNTO YOU."..If you want them to respect you,show them respect first.

I think when you expect others to respect you, at first you have to respect others and treat them nice. This is my trick:)

I think that respect starts with the Self. If you respect yourself, and show it, then others will start to show you the same respect that you have for yourself.

Gaining Respect is a great achievement in life. This wont come just like that. By giving respect to others you dont get respect from others. Respect should come by itself. Even try to do some thing to earn respect will also not achievable. You can be respected by others only if you do the following things in your life: 1) Be sincere to yourself. 2) Be sincere to your family and relatives. 3) Be sincere to your friends. 4) Help others without expecting any thing from them. 5) Stand every time ready to help others. 6) Participate in Social events in your circle. 7) Be polite to others always. 8) Give correct information to those who come to you for suggestions. 9) Acquire knowledge on all subjects. 10)Respect all elders.(not only your family members but also others)

How to gain respect? First portray a respected image. Then be respectful.
