I wouldnt water it every week. Catuses are used to months wihout rain. They only need to be watered once a month or less.

well, once a month is maybe OK, but less-
I guess that only in winter.
cactuses can actaully grow without any water about
6 months, but it is not good for them!

well, it really depends on the soil you have plant
your cactus and also from the weather, because the
hotter it is, the more water they need.
and in winter you could not water them. it is really not necessary!

I plan to water my cactus once a week but most of the time I would forget to do that, Sometimes i would only remember after a few weeks and then only my cactus would get some water. Despite of that, my cactus is still very healthy and alive. LOL!

CopperKitten is right. I'm an ex 'plantlady' (I watered plants in homes and business professionally). You should let them dry out completely, they certainly don't need water every week! Probably once a month would be fine, but really you should be able to pick up the pot and have it be very light before you give it any water... better yet get a probe to test the soil all the way down at the bottom, because the fastest way to kill a cactus is to over-water it!
