Is there anyone out there that has a seizure disorder, or knows of someone that has them that could help me out a little. When I think of a seizure, I think of someone on the floor flip-flopping around - which is nothing that I'm experiencing. I've gone online to look it up, and found some answers, but I'd like to find someone with my particular symptoms: 1) Blacking out/passing out 2) Losing consciousness (sp?) during that time 3) Falling from the above symptoms Please, if you, or someone you know has a seizure disorder with these specific symptoms, please let me know. Thanks a lot!!!

My cousin had this epilepsy seizures earlier. her symptoms are mostly same as yours. But she has now grown out of it. You must consult a good neurologist for it.

Thanks subha12. That's the weird part, is that most of what I read on this stuff is related to children that have grown out of it, or still have it. There's not much that's mentioned about people getting it as adults........I've never been normal, so why should I expect anything but abnormal? Thanks again for replying!!!

My friend has epilepsy which manifest itself too often for my taste. I had just seen a presentation on epilepsy by the Epilepsy Foundation. You can find out more at www.epilepsy-socalif.org The most important thing to realize is that seizures are NOT only convulsions. Some people just space out for a brief moment, lose control of actions (like repeatedly moving the arm), or have convulsions. Seizures are caused by too much electrical activity in the brain and therefore can affect anyone with a brain, any age, any ethnicity. I would advise you to see a doctor if this occurs often. While losing consciousness and blacking out can be seizures, they may not be, and could be other issues. Some brain cancer patients have these symptoms. In any case, blacking out and losing consciousness is dangerous for yourself and others. It's best to be safe than sorry.

Thank you very much laylomo! I took a quick peek at the site, and it looks very interesting, so thanks for that. Thanks for all the great info. too. I just got back from the neurologist, I have an EEG scheduled for Monday and an MRI for the 21st. Since all of the episodes I've had were different, he can't say that it's probably X or probably Y. I can't drive until further notice though, so I can't go to work, which adds to the financial problems that I was already having. UGH!!! Thanks again for all the wonderful advice!!!

There are many different symptoms and everyone don't have the same. My are: BEFORE: 1.Racing Thoughts 2.Stomach Feeling (Aura) 3.Strange Feelings 4.Fear/Panic 5.Dizzeness 6.Headache 7.Light Headedness Middle: 1.Black out 2.Confusion 3.Lose Consciousness 4.Visaul Lose or Blurring 5.Eyelid fluttering 6.Falling Down 7.Starring 8.Difficulty Breathing AFTER: 1.Memory Lose 2.Confusion 3.Depression & Sad 4.Frustration 5.Exhaustrion 6.Headache 7.Thirst 8.Weakness

Thank you havfaith for responding. It's never too late to respond to a post, especially one where someone is seeking advice, such as myself. I find it interesting that you experienced yours around the same time I experienced my first one as well. How many have you had since then? How often do you have them? This is all very interesting. One thing I want to let you know is that they have ruled out medical. They know think it's psychological because of my new diagnoses (I've got another whole discusion on that one) of major depression and borderline personality disorder. So, you may want to check it and look up the symptoms and see if it's close to what you're expeincing and then talk to your doctor about it. Actually, have you talked to your MD about it? I want to know more. please tell me!

When I had my first seizure and was taking to the hospital,My MD ran all kinds of tests and everything came back normal. I acually made him made cause I kept telling something was a wrong, I knew and felt something was wrong with me. Then he got me a new doctor. A neuro (seizure doctor) Dr. Ragoor she ran all kinds of test and came back with that I was taking seizures. To my surprize she told me I was born with the seizure disorder and she was surprize that I never had one growing up. A few months before I had my seizure I become depressed. And here I found out depression comes along with seizure. I think I'm more depressed now not being able to drive and work, I hoping this will come to a end in June when I get back to work. I am stuck in the house Mon. through Friday except when I have a doctors appointment. My husband is off Saturday & Sunday so I get out on the weekends. Anyway....It takes about 3 to 4 months before the seizure medicine kicks in. I take 1200 mg of carbatrol a day. 600 am & 600 pm. At first I had a few seizure a day every day, after a few weeks it was like one seizure a day, then a few times a week and then once aweek. Now I think the carbatrol is starting to work, I have about one seizure every week and a half. Now there is times I get the funny feeling like I am going to take one but me I close my eyes a few minutes and it passes. Sometimes I will lay down and go to sleep just so I don't have to deal with it. I don't know if that is safe or not and I don't know if I'm having one or not all I know I don't have to dill with it. There are times I have bad days then times I have very bad days. I can say, knock on wood I am having a very good day so far. There goes my timer, I'm not on mylot that often I just pop in everynow and then but if you would like to e-mail my please feel free, at mrsblacklite@yahoo.com make sure in the subjuct line put mylot dmillman and I know it is you.
