Most of the pictures we can find today in media are coloured ones. But there´s also a lot of fans of black and white pictures. The colored picture fans may say that black and white does not catch all the beauty, specially in nature pictures. Do you agree with this?
What do you think of black and white pictures in general?

I love taking pictures and I take them a lot. I prefer the coloured pictures. I agree that black and white don't catch all the beauty - especially in nature and landscape pictures. Coloured pictures are more practical - you can show somebody a colour for example clothes, toys, cars, just everything. Sometimes I experiment with pictures, I took some portraits and I made them white and black or sepia. It gives the pictures special and original looks and then they resemble old and precious pictures.

What do you think about my avatar then? Hehe… I have it as my mylot primary picture ever since I’m a member. I love black and white pictures. Some of mine posted over the internet are in fact black and white and I’m confident posting it like that. I prefer black and white than colored actually that’s why I didn’t change my primary picture here. :)

I happen to have a preference for black and white photos myself, as I'm still a film photographer, not digital yet, and know how to develop my own black and white prints. To me there is a unusual and hidden quality about black and white that can be lost if that same scene was in color. The late Ansel Adams was famous for his black and white photography work, in fact that is all he did, and now that he is deceased, one of his black and white prints can be worth more than $50,000!

I agree with what everyone else wrote. It depends on the pictures but taking them in Black and White brings out the meaning behind the pictures. I think sometimes Black and white shows true emotions. There is no distractions just the picture.

For me, b&w pictures can be very great if u have the main subject in your picture. For a scenery, b&w will not work and it the pictures will look terible. Imagine if u shot an autumm scenery then u convert it to b&w picture. Will the picture give u the autumm mood?

I love black and white photographs, because sometimes they can make a dull picture a little more exciting trying to guess what the real colors actually were. I think as far as beauty though, that color pictures are way more beautiful. Sometimes, even the most boring picture can come to life with a pretty scheme of colors. Especially in nature, black and white pictures can't competely capture the beauty of the objects before you. A pretty bright purple flower for example, would have no justice if it were to be photographed in black and white.

I love b&w pix! Sometimes they're much more beautiful than colour pix. It depends on the subject matter.

I like black and white photographs a great deal.
I think that black and white photographs can convey mood and emotion much more successfully than color photographs.
Also, I have seen exquisite photographs in black and white that are very memorable.

Well i can say that it depends upon what subjects are to be taken photos of. If it's landscape or nature, i think that it's more catchy if the pictures will have colors, because it adds up life to the picture, but if it's a portrait i think i like it black and white. My graduation pictures did not look that good when it has color but when i turned it into black and white it had added a little spice on it. I personnally want to take pictures in black and white mode, i don't know why, even if it sometimes looks dull i kind of like it more. Even in arts i kind of like it when it's sketch in charcoal only rather than in paint.
