It is truly and exciting adventure to tech my child at home.He went to preK for a year and now I have found the opportunity to do it myself. He had good teachers in PreK and he learned a lot. He started Kindergarten in the public system and it turned me off from the get-go.There was no orientation only a bunch of paper of what constitutes bad behavior. What is the relavance of that to me? Are they only expecting kids that are bad behaved? Then there was a long list of stuff to get that was uncalled for in my opinion. Then I paid for lunch only because I give myson breakfast. They were giving him breakfast too and he was happy with both. Then the fundraising pack came home wanting sales but saying no door to door. All this time my son starts to act out.I have to spend hours with him to get some homework done.Teacher says he is not focusing everyday, not finishing work. Child kicking him.So my take was that instead of me fighting him to get work done all that time why not look for an alternative.Homeschool. Better yet, I found a public school from home.K12 in Georgia Virtual Academy was just the answer. My son lllloves it, especially science. Now don't get me wrong...I sometimes have to give him some encouragement, but I feel empowered and in charge of his learning. His supplies from the school is paid with taxpayers dollars and they are excellent in quality.Further, I have flexibilty in my daily schedule because teaching can be done anytime around the clock.I do no have to wake hime at 6 am if he was up late and their is no anxiety in missing the bus,nor being home to collect him from the bus. K12 has put together a brilliant program to suit my situation and I am loving it along with my child.A certified techer is on hand for me to get guidance, should I need.I tech through the internet and assessments are done there after each lesson. His younger brother and sister will be in as well if this continues like this.Everyone can afford this homeschool even though it is not homeschool, but public school from home.I will recomend this for every stay at home mom.I am no longer idle but there is much purpose in everything I do.I can go on vacation at anytime, so long as I take the work with me.

cool! i could never have homeschooled my children because i wanted them to get a taste of what real life was like plus, i dont think i would have had the patience. dont forget that he needs to socialize with other kids. some places have a social event for home schooled kids once per week...look into it!

Congratulations on your decision to homeschool! Your son is really lucky! Although I do not agree with 'public school from home', you removed your son from a horrible situation and that is great! I hope you find the curriculum adequate for your son. There are millions of resources on the internet as well. I have a large collection of links store at www.homeschoolblogger.com/goldensun Good Luck
