What can you say about college fraternities?

In our school, we don't allow our students to organize and become members of unrecognized fraternities in school because we had experiences on gang wars, frat initiations that endangers our student's life, but there are still students who became members on the underground frats. What are your experiences and observations on the college fraternities?
