Would you pull over...?

Today, while taking my children to school, I saw two trucks pulled off the other side of the road. As I got closer, I saw that the second truck, a red pick-up, had blue lights flashing inside at the top of the windshield. As I was heading home I passed the same pick-up trucks plus a wrecker. The light were still flashing on the red pick-up. So I wonder, is the red pick-up truck really a police vehicle? I thought about what I would do if I were driving down the road and suddenly saw blue light in my rear-view mirror and looked back and saw a red pick-up truck. Would I stop? Somehow I think I would be supicious as to whether this were really a police officer or someone trying to pretend to be a police officer. What would you do? Would you pull over for an unmarked vehicle?

I would, but only in a safe area. Being that the vehicle is unmarked, you don't know what you're being pulled over for or who by. I would pull over somewhere like a store parking lot or rest stop or restaurant parking lot, somewhere I knew would be public and have people around in case it wasn't legit, especially if I had my kids with me.

Around here blue lights only don't signify actual police officers. Vehicles with blue lights are usually the personal vehicles of first responders...although anyone could buy a blue light and put it in their vehicle as long as they didn't get caught using it unlawfully! So if I saw a blue light only flashing in a "regular" vehicle behind me, I wouldn't pull over. It's not required here even if the driver knows the blue light vehicle is responding to an emergency. I may and have slowed down to allow them to pass or pulled to the side to let them go around with out totally stopping if I was sure they were responding to an emergency.

I would not stop and drive to the nearest police station. There are many cases of fake police trying to rob drivers nowadays. Even when you get into an accident, try not to get out of your car and if the car can still be driven, drive it to the nearest police station. If not, call someone to come over and only get out when it is safe to do so.
