What do you think the future of MySpace is?

I have been a member of MySpace since November of 2005. I have gone through the phase of gathering up friends like germs, and I have since lost that desire. I use the site to talk to friends, keep up with people I don't see very often, check out bands, and fill out surveys in my spare time. I know I started my MySpace account to keep in touch with some of my friends out of state, and then it turned into a way to connect with new people, and then it turned into an annoyance because of all of the random friend requests and messages I would receive. I have since made my profile private and I only accept friend requests from people who know my last name or email address. To tell you the truth, I'm not really sure where the site is going to end up.
With Facebook coming up with new ways to connect people and entertain users, it's been easier for me to spend more time there than on MySpace. I originally thought that I would never really spend much time on a social networking site, but Facebook has proven my assumption wrong. Facebook is now selling some stake to Microsoft, and they are also hoping to implement an ad-sharing program that will put Facebook connections on ebay and other sites so your friends can see what you've posted to sell and things like that. It seems a little odd to me, but I can tell that Facebook is really trying to expand their offerings.
With Facebook making those kinds of changes and MySpace staying relatively the same, what do you think the future of MySpace is? Do you think it can survive the competition? Where do you see things ending up for them?

I think MySpace will do just fine. I am always getting new friend requests from people I actually know. I have caught up with so many people that I lost contact with. I moved away after high school so I lost touch with a bunch of people. I also have family from out of state on my friends list.
I don't get on there quite as much as I did when I first signed up almost 2 years ago, but I do check it like once a day because I get a lot of messages. I get almost no spam anymore.

I only use myspace to keep in touch with my daughter in California. As for the future of it I don't think it looks good. We are always getting emails saying we've sent each other something which we didn't and that's not good. There always seems to be something going on with child predators and that's definitely not a good thing either. I don't know anything about facebook since nobody I know uses it but I would say they might be the next myspace if they can keep a handle on it.

It is annoying at times when too many unknown people send friend requests and you don't even know why they want to be friends with you. But at the same time, I'm glad I have found some really good friends on Myspace. And those good friends of mine have been really special and we want to remain friends for a long time. And it's really nice to connect that way. But, am not sure what it's future would be, as long as I have found nice friends, I can keep in touch with them with or without Myspace as well. But, I am really happy that I have found some very nice friends over there. I wasn't using it at all initially, but later, a few people did contact me and we've been keeping in touch and helping out each other as well. Am already on my way to meeting a friend of mine next week. Thank you!!!

I've had a myspace account since 05 and I still use it. I use it mostly for the forums and to keep up with my friends. I don't really care to use facebook or any of these new little sites that keep comming out, there is no real point. Myspace has some really good discussion threads and so I like hanging around there. I actually like their fourms better then the ones here because they aren't sensored and I can speak my mind freely. I suppose thats why I spend more time there then here.

I use to really enjoy getting on My Space but recently discovered that it is not that good of site. Like you said I have also made my site private because of all the spam I have been getting and the friend requests of people I don't know. I think Facebook will be my new source of networking site. I dont think my space is going to last.

I started a myspace page last year to stay in touch with my friend who moved to another town about 4 hours away. Now I have 3 myspace pages. All of them have at least 200 friends. Not all the same people eihter. I love myspace. I love that I can keep up with people that I went to school with and everything. I do not know where it is going though. I hope it starts to pay us. I am on there everyday.
