I prefer government job.Compare to private sector government job has more security and after retirement we will get pension from the goverment. In private companies,an employer can terminate an employee at any time.I am from India and it is very difficult to get job in the government sector.

Just same as you, I do prefer government job. Here in my country there is a joke to say if a person work as a government servant is just like he got “an iron rice bowl”, which is unbreakable. This means that the government job is very secure and it won’t be dismissed easily. Another great advantage is that the government servant could enjoy pension for the rest of the life after retirement. But it is too difficult for an ordinary government servant to become rich or to live a luxury life as he is not well paid as compared with business line.

Well, I wish I could work in a Government after I am 45 or elder since I suppose I should take a break at that age, but before that I would try to own my business or work in some private company so that I could have a more challenging life.

Of course job security is there for government jobs but think about the salary that you are provided at private sector ,its mind bloeing. Also in private sector you are properly rewarded for your hard work.In government sector if you work or not your payment remains the same. There is no competitive spirit in government sector that can be seen in the private sector. As far as I am concerned I prefer private sector rather than government sector

Dear Sreejith,
The Government job is a secured one when compared to the private job. In Government job, you are in a comfort zone. But the disadvantage is that there is limit for your growth in a government job, whereas in private, the chances for your growth is very high. It is depending upon your capabilities. In governement service you have no chance to prove your capabilities and there is no use. So most of the government employees are very lazy and the red tape of their files will be untied most of the time. Most of the governement employees are very typical people with typical attitudes.
Most of the Governement employeees will be enjoying their full rights without performing their duties.
But nowadays certain types of jobs are outsourcing by the Government. So the recruitment to the Government vacancies will be less.
A major part of the tax payers money is going for the maintainance of the employees, in turn the expenses are not that reproductive. As they are very much organised in nature, they are super citizens of the country. Those who are in the Government job are very lucky people, so everybodys first preference will be the Government Job.
A very nice subject for a meaning ful discussion. Thank You
