When we were still pre-schoolers, my mother would have me and my brothers memorized a poem. Then she would ask us to recite infront of our relatives. As we grew up, participating in speech contests was one of our favorite school activities -- my brother would orate while i would declame. I, in particular, would attend plays in our school. Performing in front is scary, but rest assured with practice and memorize your lines with your heart, you will be able to perform well. Just think that the audience are nothing but wall papers, forget about their reactions, keep in mind, that you want to convey what you feel like saying. I have confidence that you can do it. :P

Hi 10shuai!
when I was in school, I was also asked to take part in such types of speeches. In my first two three speeches I was very nervous, I didnt knew what to do and how to do! But after that, I started enjoying in taking part in such type of activities. In begining, you will get little nervous but afterwards everything will be ok. Just concentrate on the content of your speech, learn it and go through it twice or thrice...... and you are ready to give a speech!

dear lu110shuai, i also had stage fright, something bad. in college i felt like a panic attack when i stood up in front of class to give a report. my favorite professor told me just to pretend he was my o n l y audience and just talk to him, like a conversation. with practice, you will definately get better. just tune your audiance out don't look at them or observe them, jut pretend you are talking to one person, and don't even try to notice your classmates reactions, cause it could make you nervous, just analyzing what they are thinking. it sounds like your teacher wants you to give a speech about your dream for the world in which you live..be it world peace, or end to cancer or disease etc., or an end to the wars etc. i think thats what she means, so that is real easy because it means its just your opinion. so your opinion can't be incorrect, as it is just what you believe in at that time in your life. when you do something that you fear, or dread, or don't think you can do it will just make you stronger in the long run. good luck and let us know how you made out, we will be wishing you much success. stanzi

i'd suggest an im-promptu speech but not all people can do it lol.
try listening to music to calm your nerves. like the heavy metal kind lol.thats what i did when i had to give a speech about "what makes you a better student than the rest*
and do prepare ur speech. because losing your train of thought while giving a speech is extremely embarrassing.

Everyone has a certain amount of nervousness when he goes to the stage to give a speech. when you give it for the first time it will be a bit more. so u take all your courage and give it a go.
The first time I prepared a speech, I was nervous but when I said some speech for some time, the nervousness slowly came down.
the best thing to do is to practice your speech with ur parents or friends or in front of a mirror..
get fear out of your mind while going for a speech. think that the listeners in front of you do not know anything you are going to say. so you get a confidence boost that they wont make fun of you
Prepare well and all the best...

i have attend many speeches, its not easy for those who take it lightly,nd its not hard for those who do it seriously, bcoz you r going to make audience understand your thoughts, thats really hard
so prepare it very well nd do practice at home infront of your family it will help you in building confidence, thats wat i did it
while your feets touch the stage, dont hasitate at that time, make a short prayer than go on with full flow nd your eyes open wide

You know, don't take it as a speech. This is just a good chance to share you thought with others.Surpose that they like to listen to you.You can talk a lot in the speech.such as what's your dream in your childhood or now, why, and how you work hard to realise your dream and so on.Just take them as your friends.I hope it will heip you.

Hi,there! I've taken part in speeches before. Frankly speaking,I think it's very helpful. When you're talking with your friends in your daily life, maybe you don't think you're not confident but once you stand in the stage, you can really find out whether you're brave, full of confidence or not. It's a way to train your spoken ability and it's also benefical for you cause it improves your courage. So my suggestion is that you take it and try to prepare well for it and then see what's going on.Time can never be enough,so just squeeze, and then you'll have some. The other thing is that it's also a good way to know people and make more friends:) Hopefully you can enjoy yourself during the process!
