When starting out to take pictures, what is some advice you can give me? I really like taking pictures and just bought a new digital camera, but would like some hints to taking good pictures, or making them look "professional"

I'd suggest a trip to your local library. Find books on the type of photography you want to pursue. You'll need to consider lighting and composition, most of all. Those two, more than any other, make the difference between a "snapshot" and a photo.
