How often do you get your credit report?

My son just run a credit check on himself and we got a good laugh. We are still trying to figure out just how and where they get their information from. His first name is Anthony but they have stuff on his report under the name of Alyssa, Arnold, Alonzo, Althea, Aletha, and Aaron and the funny part is not any of the last names are even remotely like his. As you can see 3 of these names are female, not male, that alone should give them a clue...How often do you get your credit report? Does it have things on it that shouldn't be there?

Hi Kowgirl, I got my credit report in Sept of this year. I did it online through freecreditreport.com. I got one from all three, Experian however asked me some security questions pertaining to a Morgtage Loan. HUH??? Ive never had a mortgage loan or even thought to apply for one. So I send them a letter, with a copy of my ID's and stuff to get a paper one. When I get it, there are all kinds of deliquent accounts on there that are not mine! Like one from a photoagraphy studio......I have never in my life, other than school had my picture professionally taken! LOL There are others I just cant think of them off the top of my head, that one stood out. Im still working on going through it and getting those things removed. Its no easy task. I dont understand how they can have different names on a SS# like that?? I hope he doesnt have a hard time like I am to get them removed. If you have any tips, Id love for you to share them. Bay Lay Gray xx

yeah! I know what you are saying...one of mine was for something in a state I have never been in, much less lived. I am beginning to think this credit check thing is just a crock of shi*. They act as if we don't know what our name is, what gender we are, nor where we have lived. I talked to my daughter and she is running a check on her children and herself. Will let you know what happens..... Right now my son is trying to get in touch with the companies to have a talk with them so they can get them removed from his credit report. It seems this is the way to go.

Well good luck to you guys. Its very frustrating because its been years! I mean like 5 yrs or so, and half of these places are acting like they cant help me. So its looking like I might not be able to get them removed. I dont know what to do, live with bad credit? LOL That stinks, specially if they are not my doings. Bay xx

I know what you mean about them not wanting to help you get it straightened out. I've been a member of a legal services for over 23 years, and they have helped me in cases like these. I think they can help you too. e-mail me for more info. The best part is that it costs less than an economy cup of coffee from a convenience store a day. However, they have over 1,5 million members and that gives them buying power, and law firms that give them the BEST SERVICE and RESPECT that members deserve. Best wishes, Joe

I did mine the first of this year. I have a friend that works at a credit union and she had given me a website to go on where I could do it for free so I did mine. It had an address from another state as one of my addresses that I've lived in the past and I've never lived in another state. I wrote them a letter telling them that I had never lived there so I hope they took it off. I can only do it for free once a year on that website so I haven't checked it yet to see if they have taken it off.

You took care of financial problems. Financial identity theft only accounts fro about 22 to 28% of PERSONAl identity theft (IDT). The other 4 can be more costly in many ways such as: criminal; driver's license; Social Security Number; and medical. Watch a great web video by an expert and then e-mail me. http://www.idtforhr.com/flash-replay/6853681 Best wishes, Joe

Hey there Kowgirl. Thanks for the post. It really woke me up. I think I will check on my credit report today! I used to check it all the time before I got married because my maiden name was Debi Davis and it was very common so, I would get all sorts of weird stuff on my credit. Now that I'm married I have a VERY unique last name and I never really thought about it. Well, talk to you later, I'm off to check my credit :-)

I can see what you mean. My grandsons last name is Davis but he is only 12 years old and he is a Jr. He and his father share the same name but none of the things that came up was from his father. His father is going to check his tonight to see whats on his. I just bet it too is a mess.

You should contact a lawyer about identity theft probably. I am assuming you ran his social and all of these other names popped up. That means that people have used his social to get credit. You will need to get all of this fixed. And it won't be a laughing matter in the end. It will take time and money probably.

They are saying it could be a computer error. What a laugh, anyone with any sense knows that a computer doesn't make errors, it only knows what some human put into it. We did notice that all of these names start with an A and he signs everything with an A. and then his middle name because that is what he goes by. They are trying to figure it out so maybe we will know in a few days what they are going to do about it.

How old is your son? It needs to be fixed ASAP. It could be MINGLING or those people using HIS SOCIAL Security number and THEIR OWN NAMES. Credit monitoring is part of the solution. However, many only report when the account is in collections, or past due. They might report to the main repository every 3 to 6 months. Thus, looking in the rear view mirror when driving forward will not prevent an accident. There are 5 types of PERSONAL identity theft: financial; criminal; Social Security Number; driver's license; and medical. Watch this video, then contact me on how to get covered from all 5 types. http://www.idtforhr.com/flash-replay/6853681 Best wishes, Joe
