Is anyone else a fan of the Bonzo dog band?

The Bonzo Dog Band - The Band in the late 60's I estimate.

I'm actually a bit of a fanatic and have a message board and fan page to go with it:). For those who don't know who they are, they are comedy british band that started in the late 60's and carried on till the mid 70's when they split up, they had a number one with "Urban Spaceman" and regularly appeared on a TV show called "do not adjust your set" that featured the later to become monty python comedians. But they have now had re-union and done a tour and released a new album.

Yep, I love them, they're great, they're only second to the Beatles :) But I wonder if there's anybody in the Rutles? I'm trying to add them to my interests and they are impossible to find!

Thank you very much Nancy, I did as you said and now we have our Rutles page. That's the link for anyone who wants to add it: www.mylot.com/w/lists/1_431348/default.aspx

Apart from the "Urban Spaceman" I don't think I've heard anything else they've done - or if I have then I didn't realise it was them. I'm really bad with names although their name is quite memorable lol! I do vaguely remember "Do Not Adjust Your Set" but I don't specifically remember them on it. I was quite young at the time mind you.

I heard their song the Humanoid Boogie today - that's a good one & the Urban Spaceman is fun too. Heard/saw a song on the BBC's Sound Of The sixties back in @93, don't know what it's called but it had lines about climbing somebodies string vest and planting a flag in their mountains. I was taping the song off the tv onto a cassete recorder and had to leave the room as I was laughing so much it was being picked up on the tape. I knew they'd done a tour with different people standing in for Vivien Stanshall, but hadn't heard about a new album - who's doing the vocals?

The song you are talking about is called "canyons of your mind". And what I've heard of the alum is Neil Innes mainly and some of the other band members singing.

Hey... you missed the Doo Dah out, Nancy! ha ha ha. I'm not exactly what you would call a fan but I know of them from way back. They recorded a lot of songs but the ones that stick out in my mind are Urban Spaceman, The Monster Mash and Canyons of Your Mind. Other than that, there being such a lot of great bands in the 60s and 70s, I'm at a loss to converse on the Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band, I'm afraid. Brightest Blessings.

Easier to call them the Bonzo Dog Band lol, and they did drop the Doo Dah themselves eventually.

That takes me back a bit. I remember the Urban Spaceman well. I was working clubs as a musician at the time and were often performing the song with various cabaret artists. Remember Do not adjust your set also, but didn't watch TV a great deal in those days as I was always working... :-)

They certainly are, at least the best one England has ever produced.
