I hate vinyl mini-blinds to a point. Mostly for the cleaning end each year. I read a great trick and thought I'd share it as to a great and easy cleaning method. I have done this and will soon again as it's getting cold. I use a mild cleanser maybe Mr Clean mixed according to directions with a bucket of water. I then use a glass cleaning brush also. The ones we buy to reach into the bottoms of glasses to clean them. Take the blinds down one at a time maybe 2 if you can handle it. HAHAHA! Take them outside. Use the garden house wetting them slightly. Dip the brush into the cleaning solution then run the brush across and in between the slats of the blind. Hose off rinsing them till water runs clean. Then hang them on a fence or across a chair or table till dry. fast, efficient and very easy and cheap. Happy cleaning. HAHAHA!! HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

This is a Good tip, but I live in a Condo, so it would be hard to do this unfortunately. Actually since we are going to be putting our place on the Market pretty soon, we might just go ahead and buy New for most of the Windows as a lot of them are getting pretty raggedy looking and need replaced anyways.

I invested in double-paned glass with the blinds in between the glasses! On all the other windows I use shades. Hate mini-blinds!!!!!!

I bought a new back door with the mini blinds built in. When I replace all my house windows that's what I wish to go with as well. easier and neater actually. Thanks. I added a photo of my door above also. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I have also heard to hang them on a fence, then put a cleaning solution in a hose end sprayer, so that it will mix the solution as it goes. Use a high power spray to get the dust and dirt off. Mr. Clean works well, I am sure. I would probably use an Orange Glo product or Simple Green, as they are some of my favorites. In a pinch I would use Dawn dishwashing detergent. It is my favorite grease and dirt cutter.

When we bought our house we bought all wooden blinds to go in here. It was expensive but I like them much better than the vinyl ones. I just take pine sol and mix it in a bucket of water and take a rag and wipe them down.

Still a pioan cleaning them. I would love to have the real wood ones. But we have like 20 windows so the cost would be outrageous for them all. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Why dont you get clothes line clips that are sturdy enough and once you put all the blind in the bucket and clean them hang them all up with the clips and then spray at once then that will save some time from having to spray each one individually.LOL.Just kidding.Just trying to save some time.Yeas I hate to clean blinds too and my house seems to get so dusty.I am about ready to invest in the wooden blinds that have bigger slates. But still I doubt it would help any of the not getting dirty. Thanks for sharing the tip.

I just cleaned my a month ago and I couldn't believe how filthy they were. They didn't look too bad when they were up but the water was terrible. I just put hot water and Oxy cleaner in the tub, washed them up and then let them air dry on the floor with a big beach towel under them. We only have 5 windows in our apartment but I was wore out by the time I was done. "COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS" **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

hello grandpa bob!thanks for the information. I've been meaning to clean our vinyl blinds too. But I don't know why I'm just stuck with the "plan" of doing it. Usually, the only way I clean them is by using a wet rag and painstakingly clean the slat one by one, the front and the back. I always consume more than an hour doing it. Because I want to make sure that I've cleaned every slat. I'll follow your tip and finally clean the blinds once and for all!
