Last year i travelled through Urugauy Argentina, Boliva and Chile and had an awesome time. I plan to go back but go north through Brazil and up through central America to Mexico. Does anyone have any places they would recommend seeing whilst i was there?

I went to Belize and loved it there. The Mayan ruins were interesting to visit. I liked traveling from Orange by boat past basking crocodiles and to the site where I heard the roar of a jaguar. I enjoyed snorkeling trips from the laid back island of Caye Caulker. I saw string rays and nurse sharks as well as the stunning reef and many pretty fish. It was memorable to stay in a tree house at Bullet Tree Falls. I had an amazingly exciting day trip out from there to the ATM caves, it involved swimming and much climbing. Wow! I liked Northern Guatemala very much indeed. I went to Tikal National Park. There I enjoyed walking around the jungle to see the Mayan temples. I got superb views and saw lots of wildlife. I loved seeing the beautiful sunrise after an waking up walk in the darkness. The sound of the jungle animals and the vivid colors of the sky told a memorable story to me. I also liked the charming lake side town of Flores.

I am sure that you are going to have a fantastic journey. I met a few backpackers in Guatemala that were doing a similar trip to the one you are planning. Most of them were on a shoe string sort of budget. Setting foot in Mexico, then Belize I found Guatemala quite cheap. I caught the travel bug when I was a teenager. When I was your age I had a fantastic one year trip around the world. Yes, we do live just the road from one another hey. For your trip as you are going on a one way flight it might be a good idea to check on onward ticket requirements for all the the counties you want to go through. In Central America buying a Tica bus ticket is a great way to get around this. I read about a guy taking a yacht from Panama to Colombia, you would be going in the opposite direction. I would love to do that. Good luck with all your trip planning.

Hey Maxi, thanks for the reply, i intend to go to Belize and Guatemala whilst i'm out there, money permitting! Im flying oneway to Buenos Aires with the intention of coming back from Mexico or wherever my money runs out! It sounds really beautiful up there. I just looke on your profile and you actually live just down the proverbial road from me. Small virtual world eh?

It was an experience i definately recommend! I went last time only for about 2 and a half months, and had about 1,500 pounds to last me. That lasted quite a while as everything is so cheap there, my hostel in Buenos Aires cost about 3 pound a night! This next trip i think i will be gone for about 8 months or so. You should definatel do it though!
