French Fries

Did you guys know French fries are actually Belgian? french fries aren't french!, the "french" is derived from the verb 'to french' AND NOT from the country of France! Did you know this? and how do you feel now that you know you've been lied to all your life!?

I actually prefer jo-jos or potatoe wedges. My favorite way to cook them is to cut the potaotes into wedges, dunk them into the fryer, remove them & sprinkle on lots of seasoned salt, dunk again. Pull them out & drain them. Put them on a plate, cover them with cheese ( melted peperjack is good )& serve with ketchup on the side. OMG now I'm really hungry.

My wife actually has a low fat method. Boil the wedges or fries for 3 minutes. Spritz an oven pan with olive oil. Place the fries in the pan & spritz lightly with the olive oil & sprinkle on seasoned salt. Cook at 400 for 12 minutes. Remove & turn the wedges then cook for another 12 minutes. Remove, pour onto paper towl covered plate ( to soak up any extra oil )sprinkle on more seasoned salt then garnish. They cook all the way through & still have the crispy outside without soaking up as much of the oil.

The French said the same thing when Americans renamed french fries "freedom fries".

*sigh* The deep-frying process was made in belgium... The french & American people don't even know they have to be fryed twice to give off optimal taste!

Don't knock all americans. Some of us actually know how to cook up a feast. My problem is doing it in portions small enough that they couldn't feed an entire army. Thats what happens when you learn by cooking over a campfire for 20 people.
