How bad is Cartilage Piercing?

I've been hearing that it gives a lot of infections, and chances are you can get paralyzed by it.
I really want to know, because I want to get one, but having doubts.
HELP me out!

I have never heared anything like that. But my cousin has gotten her cartilage done and she said it hurts alot but nothing went wrong with her, you just have to take good care of it. And make sure you choose a place that is highly recomended no underground places that might not be clean or well trained.
