Would you give your last dollar to a needy stranger?

The Bible says it is more blessed to give than to receive. But, how far do we go with this. It's fun to give when we have surplus. Is it as blessed to give when we really need to receive? Where do we draw the line on this? I like to give, but sometimes, my bucket is empty, and the opportunity to give still comes walking down the road toward me.

Definitely I will not. . . because I myself is needy and have two mouths to feed.

Nope, I absolutely would not. I'm sure that sound selfish, but every action we take is selfish, so I don't mind much. At least I'm honest. If I only have one dollar left, then obviously I'm just as needy. Considering I have a family that needs that dollar more than some stranger does, I think I'd keep it.
I could also mention I do not EVER give money to strangers. I've bought meals for the homeless, I've donated my time and supplies to shelters, I've donated clothing to a homeless shelter ... everytime I go through the closets I donate a few bags of whatever my kids have grown out of. There's one homeless man downtown that I buy a cup of coffee for almost every day on my way past, simply because it's getting cold and he always looks like he could use it. But I will NOT ever give them money.
And the bible has nothing to do with my decisions on any of it. I'm an atheist.
