I think Chinese is a wonderful language but it is very difficult to learn. The characters are hard to remember and one extra dash means something totally different. Also, there are so many Chinese dialects, even if you're Chinese, you probably won't even understand each other!

I'm a Chinese, and more and more people in our country are learning English. Every school has English classes, even primary schools. It's true there're many Chinese dialects. For example, I am from Chongqing, I can't understand the Guangdong dialect. Exactly, Every province in China has its own dialect. But we can communicate with each other in common Chinese.

China is big populated and developed country. Chinese have their own culture and they love to their language and culture too. Chinese are different in many respects in comparing with respect of the world other than china. China and Chinese are attractive as they invaded the world wide market. This is reason that caused the people to learn china and also Chinese.

Language is a weapon too,esp for a country.
just like me,if i could understand and spean english,i would find a better job with higher salary.i think that is same to you, right?
if you really don't want to learn it,and it is not useful to you,so that is easy to you to decide.
but learning more is good to you. China is known and liked by more and more people. maybe you would come to China,so if you understand her language, very conveniently.
i am chinese .welcome you! :)

I decide to learn Chinese because I have a Chinese boyfriend. We met on cncupid dot com/photo/romance. (Yes, we met online. Seems that all the Chinese users there are good at English and that's why I can meet "him" without difficulty) But I think I have been in deep love with him. I will go to China someday. Although we can communicate in English freely, it would be a wonderful experience that I speak his mother tongue.

You are right about that. There are many people wanting to learn Chinese (and I am one of them). This is my second year teaching in China and I know VERY little right now. I hope that I can find more people that might be able to give me suggestions.
