I dont know much about Dell unfort sorry
but we went to Circut city for mine its a Toshiba
i love it and first of all it was resaonably priced and came with a $100 rebate AND lots of extras from Toshiba
id suggest going there checking things out getting prices asking lots of questions - tell them what u want it for - music downloads, games, watching movies etc - whatever u use urs for
and they will direct u in the right place
BUT shop too!!
go to best buy, walmart even, any other electronic store and go with what u like and price :)
GOOD luck
P.S. were loking for two laptops this xmas too so im doing this same thing - but i think were going to go with Circut city!!

I would absolutely love a laptop computer. I miss the one my mom rented me for one month from Rent To Own. It was a Compaq though it was great. I have heard that Dells are good and is a great company. Have you thought of going through Fingerhut and getting one for so much a month? But just like Rent To Own places they do tend to hike the price up a bit. But if you get an account started with them it would be easier then having that whole amount come out all at once. I enjoyed being able to sit in the living room all comfy while being on the laptop. Sitting fo hours at a time in front of my desktop one tends to cause me alot of problems. Well, I do hope that you find one that you like and that suits you and your lifestyle. Happy Holidays and Happy Laptop hunting...My sister in law just bid on a Dell laptop that wa priced for $100.00 on Ebay, not a bad price..I don't know if she won or not but since she hasn't called to tell me she won or not I don't know. Would you buy one from Ebay?

Dell? Haven't you heard of their flammable batteries problem?
To be fair, I would not advise their Inspiron laptops...If you seriously want a Dell laptop, go for the Latitudes...They have better overall build quality than the Inspiron...
I would recommend Japanese branded laptops instead for their high reliability - Sony, Fujitsu, NEC, Toshiba...though they can be slightly more expensive..
Otherwise, I would recommend Lenovo (formerly IBM)

i don't really have expierience with laptops but the best thing i can do is put your pc together yourself. that way you know what they've put in to your computer. it's the best way to get a good one.

Hi I have been repairing and building PC and Laptops for over 15 years. The Laptop that you would want depends on what your going to use it for.
I have a Laptop and it is a HPCompaq v6000 series and it has the capability to do what ever I would want it too do.
I have lot of experience with Dell and HP model of PC and found that Dell has been making a very cheap case for their PCs and I would not suggest that should be the one for you to choose.
But keep in mine what you are going to use it for.
If your into doing Cad, Games or any heavy grapic programs then you should get a Fast CPU with very good video card with as much memory on the video card. The hard drive should be as large as you can for the money that you can afford.
Glossary: CPU - speed around 2GB, Video card-NVIDIA 6150 or higher with 256MB of memory, the memory for the Laptop should be 1GB or more and last but not least, the hard drive should be about 100GB or more.
CPU=Central Processing Unit, GB=Giga Bytes, MB=Meg Bytes.
The Video card can be any that is fairly new with memory on the card not less then 256MB.
I hope this help and if not let me know.
