My son started potty training around 1-1/2. He was fully potty trained by 2. He still wears a pullup at night. My daughter is 20 months and as long as we are at home she goes on the potty. I think the earlier the better. With her we do a sticker chart. With my son he wa obsessed with tempoary tattoos. When he went he got a tattoo. They wash off in the tub and we put most of them on his belly. We did start running out of room and have a coupel pictures where he looks like a tattoo artist...lol. I think it depends on the child though. Sometimes they just aren't ready. Can he hold it for longer then 10 or 20 minutes. Try to get him to sit every 30 minutes or hour. Many high fives and big boy talk. If he can't hold it that long then he probably isn't ready. If he poops at the same time every day then it makes it easier too. If you don't have carpet or are brave you can let him run naked from the waist down. Good luck!

Both of my girls started training at 1, as soon as they could walk. My parents told me that if they can walk, then they can walk to the potty. In my case that happened to be true. Both of my girls were full potty trained a few months before they hit 2 years old. I have heard that it is a lot harder to train a boy though. My nephew is almost 4 and they can not get him to stay on track with it. My brother was also four before he was fully potty trained. When I say fully trained, I mean no more accidents nor peeing the bed. The way I got my girls to learn was.... I showed them about a week. I put REAL panties on them. If they used the bathroom in their real panties they would have to stand in the corner for a few minutes. When they were done in the corner, I would tell them to come to me and then I would have a serious talk with them. I would get on my knees, that was I would be at eye-level with them. I would let them know that big girls do not use the bathroom in their pants, and the next time they did it, they would get the corner again. It seemed to work with both of them. They do not ever pee their pants or the bed. I do not believe in the "Oh, I do not think they are ready to potty train yet." I believe in, "You are the parent, and you tell them when it is time." One thing I have learned about kids, is to start everything with them at a young age. Hope that I helped in some way. I am very lucky to have my girls, the way they act is outstanding. I try to share the way I bring my girls up with other people. I don't know what part of raising them the way I did had the effect on their behavior, but they never act up. I am not STRICT on them. I do set a few rules. Like: No candy unless Nanny and Papa give it to them(which is not often), no soda's or kool-aid, no interrupting, no fussing with each other. Ya know stuff like that. Oh, yeah back to the potty training thing.....(sorry, I kind of drifted of there).... If you are a stay at home mother a good thing to do would be to ask your child every 20 minutes if they have to potty. Even if they don't make them go sit on it, let them have their sippy cup while they sit on it for a few minutes. Before you go somewhere like to the store or something make them potty. When they go to bed at night an hour before make them potty and when you see them about to fall asleep make them potty again. My youngest daughter, I have to cut off her drinking of anything 3 hours before she goes to bed. This prevents her from waking up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom, now my oldest can drink and hold it forever, which is not good. But anyway. There is my input. Bye
