Do you believe in your fate/destiny?

I've often heard this "if its really meant for you, you will have it" or "it is really our fate to be a businessman", something like that.
my question is, do you believe in fate? Or we are the ones that make our fates? if we are the ones who are making our destinies, how come when we are trying our best to do what we want, something is always stopping us to do it? (like for example, we want to be a CPA, we try our best to study, but ends up flucking the subject?)

well i too believe in destiny or fate ,most of the time you do get what you want in life if you try for it ,but there are times when things are beyond your thoughts i would better give you an example
Arthur Ashe, the legendary Wimbledon player was dying of AIDS which he got due to infected blood he received during a heart surgery in 1983. From world over, he received letters from his fans, one of which conveyed: "Why does GOD have to select you for such a bad disease"?
To this Arthur Ashe replied: The world over -- 5 crore children start playing tennis, 50 lakh learn to play tennis, 5 lakh learn professional tennis, 50,000 come to the circuit, 5000 reach the grand slam, 50 reach Wimbledon, 4 to semi final, 2 to the finals, When I was holding a cup I never asked GOD "Why me?".
And today in pain I should not be asking GOD "Why me?"
Happiness keeps us Sweet, Trials keep us Strong, Sorrow keeps us Human, Failure keeps us Humble, Success keeps us Glowing,
But only GOD keeps us going…Thank GOD

I used to..
back in high school i remember asking for signs. for example, if i see a black cat in my window that day, ill pass calculus..
for me these signs, and when they happened, proved to me that there is such a thing as destiny.
Then came a guy...
i could say he was my first love... anyway, i asked for a dozen signs so that i could prove that he liked me to. and all the signs came true...
but after all those, he broke my heart...
so no, i don't depend on destiny or fate when it comes to living my life. i believe in seizing chances and making opportunities possible for me

When you say that you believe in fate and sit with folded arms without doing a thing you have already sealed your fate in a very unfavourable manner, because God helps only those who help themselves. This belief in fate has subtle dimensions to it and in most cases it would be a case of alleviating one's disappointment over some issue. But even otherwise also we do believe that Ultimately there is a foce beyond us and this is God and He will steer us in the right direction to fulfil whatever plan He has for everyone of us.. But the same God has clearly stated that we are to fulfil our duties in this world and follow one's Swadharma.
When we have done our duty to the best of our conscience and ability and put in a lot of hard focussed work and still the results go awry,it will be a case of an error somewhere or the other. For example, if a student works very hard and burns midnight oil and studies the lesson that pertained to the previous year's syllabus whose fault is it?But one thing is there. If a person does work in the right direction, results will be seen-tomorrow , if not today. This is because we will always get what we deserve and not all what we desire. This deserving result will be determined bY God and the work done in this case would be according to His plans for us. yOU YOURSELF SAY THAT YOU TRY YOUR BEST TO STUDY.
Now, trying is different from doing it fully -I know how difficult this is because I have heard your CPA IS somewhat similar to Indian CA where the pass rate is hardly six percent. And that is why there is this joke----
An exasperated student, left the hall after being confronted with a difficult paper in his C.A. exam, He saw the picture of Jesus Christ with the words'Jesus never fails.'. He had been totally fed up by the paper, and so he wrote by the side of the inscription'' Ask Him towrite C.A''[This is for light relief]
Coming back, there is no point blaming Fate for everything in this world because the same people who resort to this also say that Fate can be changed by one's wisdom and prudence.
It is our duty to work objectively and the results will be seen in some quarter.

For me, we make our own destiny. Based on our choices, we create what we become. There maybe instances like you said that we are trying our best but we still fail, then maybe our best wasn't good enough. Failing is a part of success. If we fail, it doesn't mean that we are being stopped to do what we want. It just serves as a reminder to us that we need to do better than what we have done before. And if we have done our best and we still can't get what we want, there is this Special Someone - God - that wants us to have something better that what we want. Life is simply a choice. We just have to do our best in everything and face the consequences of our choices. :)

Hi! I think sometimes sth is decided by our destiny but I also believe you're the one who can change your fate. As is known to all, there're things in this world that we are not able to do or to change. But we still have the ability to take some actions and try to make some changes. We should have the faith that if we try our best, things will turn out better and miracles may even happen. Whenever I'm very sure about sth, then I'll do my best to realize it.Then even if I'm not successful,I won't be sad cause I've tried all that I could do:) What do you think?

Fate / Destiny are created by you, you with your efforts make it happen. I have seen many people start from dirty and make empires, does not happen over night, bit by bit.. hard work, bit of sweat. You should have the fire in your belly, to make it, no not just make it but make it big, really big. You know what I mean. Yeah not every thing is meant to go your way all the time. And there will be times you will fail, as long as you have give your best effort, you can pat your back for the effort. And start all over again and this time more stronger. Best of Luck

Yeas and agree with that motivation words because we are the writer to our own life fate book. One's cannot be a doctor if don't go to school and certified as a medical practitioner. Even one's can give remedy to cancer disease, and will be call as shaman but not for doctor.
Regarding our previous academic learning, actually we wrongly take the method of learning. Because we always learned for ready to make answer but not for ready to understand the question. So that is the weakness and not the mistake.
For 'A' we understand wrongly for 'a' and the vice-versa. The same alphabet but different character, the capital and the small letter.

For me, we are the doer of our own destiny. We should be the driver of our own life. I believe that we have to control our own destiny or-- someone else will.
Like in our country where majority of the people are poor and can't afford to go to school. Some of these families thought that they're destined to grow old poor like their parents so it made them just sit and do nothing to alleviate their poverty. But there were others who, at all costs, strived hard to finished college and changed their lives direction.
You see, in life, we can't just go with the flow as this might only take us where the flow goes and will lead us to an unhappy life. You are your own destiny.

I don't believe in the so called fate or destiny. "Keep positive and work hard, sooner or later, you'll get what you want". We are the ones to make our fates. For example, facing with a difficult situation, you can choose giving up or holding on. It decides you're a loser or a winner. I think before we make our own career, we should make it clear that what we're interested in and good at.

I believe in both...the Bible says "our steps are ordered by God' but we also have free will...if we follow the life God ordained for us, I feel it will be better for us....God does not have to fix a life we choose for ourselves...he will "finish" in us what He started, but is under no obligation to finish in us what we start...... if we follow His will for us...he will give us the strength to face whatever comes our way....but alas, most of us think we have to choose our own way, and then get frustrated with God when he does not jump every time we ask him to bail us out of a mess we created.
