Within the passed week I have had it with all the crazy things that have happen. Most recently with the Aqua Dots thing, the night before I heard about the recall on the toy I had actually been on their website with my credit card in hand to orderthem for my 5 year old daughter for Christmas. I seen nothing on the site about the recall and it was after midnight my time. (california) But at 8 am I seen it on aol news and on the morning news. I am so glad that an Instant Message from a friend interupted me when I was getting ready to order them and I was too sleepy to do it and figured I would just do it in the morning. I used to think that I only had to tell my daughter not to put things (toys) in her mouth for the fact that she could choke on them. Now we have to also worry about them getting poisioned and now druged. I think that its crazy that idems that are intended for children are being so carelessly made and not just to put it on the factorys that are makeing them, but I thought we had laws that made it so that things needed to be inspected before sold. So what is happening, how is the lead and other harmful things still making it thru the system!? Am I the only one P.O'd over this? Comments Please! =)

It's outrageous that all of these things are going on with children's toys. it's not like we don't have enough to worry about. I so get what you're saying. I'm beginning to not want to buy any kind of toys for my 1 year old. It's scary to think that there's so much danger out there. You're not the only P.o.'d parent out there.

I didnt think that I was! I had to sit my daughter down and tell her why we arn't getting aqua dots ( I was a bit upset too they looked pretty cool) and she now wants to write a letter to pres. Bush ans ask him why he doesnt make people check toys like her mommy checked her halloween candy! LOL! I think I will let her write to hime too! Maybe coming from a 5 year old people might listen! LOL!

I think it would be great if your 5 year old sent the president a letter. Just like you said, maybe they'll start listening. LOL

I am one of those parents who di actually purchase aqua dots, I had them put away for christmas. thank good I wasn;t a pushover and actually give them too my son when I brought them. It still terrible though, he was so bummed when I told him Santa would not be able to Give him aqua dots because they can hurt kids. At least that is the least of my worries though that he was just bummed out. It could have been alot worse. We will not be buying any toys made from China. Some people might be confused with what to buy. One toy company, little tikes is not made in china. And they have no had any toys on any of the recent recall lists ( just thought i would share that incase any other parents are pulling their hair out looking for toys not made in china). And we will be going the whole video game route this holiday. My son is 6 years old and he loves his wii that he got last christmas. we will be adding onto that and are thinking about buying the ps3. Yes i know video games. some may think not such a good idea, but hey right now its the ssafest way to go.

We are going to do somewhat the same thing. My daughter is getting our old computer right before Xmas and we are getting her lots of games for Christmas and her birthday that comes right after Christmas. She is also getting a new leapfrog from her dad so I will get her some games to go with that too. I also have ordered her some new DVD's as well.

I think many parents are annoyed over the many items that have been recalled and most especially all the medicines that have been lately. That has really pi$$ed me off because I use some of them with my son when he was younger. Its obvious the quality control checks and sorts are not being done properly and when their in their testing stage, these things should be picked up right? well I would think so! Luckily my son is a lot older but still, are all the toys that are out there now safe for our children? who the hell knows!!!

I know what you mean my daughter had some of the fisher price toys that were recalled a month or so ago maybe longer but thankfully she had hers way before the recall and that suppostitivly means that they are safe but didnt make me feel very sure in them. I have sence then told my daughter that no toy should ever touch her mouth ever! And did my best to explain why I more or less just said that some toys have killed kids, thats what I said after the Aqua Dots recall I streched the truth but I needed her to understand the seriousness in what I was saying. She wrote a letter to the presedent and I am going to post that on here in a few minutes.

my best advice is keep up on your research! and I know that the lead testing kits can be bought for anywhere between 15.00 and 20.00 dollars, and I know that it is a bit much but you just have to wipe the little testers on the surface of the toys and it will turn a certin color if its unsafe, but it is worth the cost if you can afford it. Also just keep you eyes on here us mylot mommys are pretty good at getting the recall word out fast around here=) good job mommys and lets do our bests to keep informing eachother of hazards out there!

I cant beleive all of the toys that have been recalled just this year alone. My daughters wanted aquaDots too. I told them no because I was scared their baby brother would choke on them if the girls didn't get all of it put up...but poisoning never crossed my mind! Toy manufactures need to figure out how take care of this problem or and set forward mandatory saftey procedures for products and material....AND ENFORCE THEM!!!

I AGREE!! My 5 year old is writing a letter to bush today she wants him to make toys be tested so they know they are safe before they put the commercials on tv so that kids dont get excited about something that ends them up in the hospital!
