and finding it difficult to muster the nerve to drive it? well, the car is still on the garage and i'm still not driving. i don't know if i ever will find the courage to drive it! i've gone as far as to tell my husband to just sell it coz it's virtually useless! one big coward, huh?

Have you done driving lessons? I know when I was getting my license (Its obviously going to be different, sounds like you're in the US) I had a driving instructor who taught me all the basics, I hated the lessons with a passion as I didn't want to crash or do anything like that but in the end it got me used to driving.
Other then that maybe ask your husband to give you some lessons before going for lessons since your going to be more comfortable with him then an instructor you don't know.

Im from Australia, oh I see what you mean now I thought from what you had written that you hadn't driven at all.
Since you mentioned you have a hard time driving as well as coping with a car breakdown it sounds more like just a general confidence issue, maybe if you did some driving with your husband and see if you feel any better with him there. If you do then you just have to work on your confidence while driving.
If you have somewhere thats relatively isolated with only a small amount of cars like a parking lot then driving around there can always give you some experience and hopefully get you more confident driving around.
Are you an anxious person in general or relatively independent?
In regards to my discussion im much more interested in answering questions then asking them, at least until I find something worth asking :)

you've got some good suggestions there and thanks for making them. i just might do that - when i get the nerve, ha, ha! no, i'm not generally a panicky person, i'm the independent and the go-getter type. it's only with driving when i turn all-gelly. i don't understand why but thinking of being responsible for the lives of my passengers (specially when they're my kids) and the lives of the people in cars around me is enough to scare me! weird, huh?

Hi there. I guess we are on the same shoes. I studied at a driving school but didn't master the art of driving coz it's just a 5-days session. I practiced driving here in the city with my husband as my coach, but then I became more nervous driving when my hubby is there around as a coach! I almost hit a pedicab and the driver shouted at me. I guess that's what made me feel coward to drive here in the city after that experience. However I had driven our car successfully in a zigzag round in our home province with a span of 80 kilometers, but during that time there are no other cars on the road except one or two public utility vehicles who might have understood that I am a new driver. There's a big difference when you drive in the city and in a remote area. Up to now I still rely on others to drive our car here in the city coz I dont have the nerve to drive. Afterall for me, its really good just to be a passenger than a driver. :D

correct! that's why, even with the car just sitting there unused, i still take a cab. this way, i can enjoy the scenery more, i won't have a problem with parking, i won't wonder if i've locked the car or not, and jeepney drivers' attitudes are not my problem. ha!
