This discussion has been prompted by a response i did which reminded me of what goes on upstairs in my mum and dads house.
let me explain.
We live in a very old stone built house in the wilderness of Scotland. we have hillsides surrounding us which are windswept and bare. The house is 3 storys high and is topped by an imposing attic covering the length of the house, full of nooks and crannies.
113 years ago a mother of 3 was accussed of witchcraft and went on the run. she holed up in the attic of our house where she remained safe for 3 months. then for the reward money the kitchenmaid of the house gave information on her whereabouts and soon the witch finder general had the house surrounded with his troops.
they forced her into a corner of the attic and for her pennence she was bricked up alive and left to die in the suffocating darkness.
She was heard to cry a curse on the house for the first two nights until no more could be heard.
My mum locks the door that gives access to the third floor and local tradesman will not do roof repairs. all the local folk know of the 'accidents' that have happened over the years and when the wind howls through the cracked windows, and the moon casts an eerie shadow of dancing branches across the attic floor, strange noises can be heard.
My mum and dad wondered why they got it so cheap but it sure does give entertainment value when we have party's!

Hey X,
Your house sounds awesome!! I would love a visit, I bet its a lot of fun. I believe in supernatural things, ghosts and the sort. I do believe I have one in the apt we live in. My jewlery has been removed from my fingers in the night while I sleep, I hear people walking across the carpet, I see figures out of the corner of my eye when Im walking into a dark room before turning on the light. Just yesterday, 2 of our remote controls were under the couch. Ones we dont use, they just usually sit on the coffee table. I asked hubby if he put them there, but he said no.
On Halloween night, a lot of banging was coming from my usually quiet neighbor about 3 am and I laughed it off that it was our ghost and they had gotten stuck in the other apartment and couldnt get back. LOL

Ah, my wonderful scary friend. You are the master story teller. That is a most awesome house you have. I love the tale it spins. Get on Word (or whatever you have) and expand on this story. Do the research and continue. You live in the wilderness of Scotland in an old stone-built house? Ooooh, to die for. Hey, btw, is that where you're holding my twin sister????? lol. Remember her release is imminent since we have fullfilled all your requests. Muuuhahahaha, or something like that. You're awesome. Keep writing, you'll do well.

Okay, that's good to hear. She loves attics and she will flourish up there. Once in a while you should bring her up a nice cup of licorice tea and a stuffed crust pizza will keep her happy for a long time.

Not all things supernatural, just some of them. I'm pretty sure there are parallel universes and if we develop our natural instincts we can probably tune into them, but most people are afraid and that would tend to break the connection.
Lovely story and so timely, following our annual post-Halloween let-down. I like "the moon casts an eerie shadow of dancing branches" best. Your mum must be rolling her eyes and wondering what she did to deserve this, lol.

it would be pretty foolish for me to not believe in witches. i am one. Scottish heritage and all. Withes have been given a bad rap over the centuries, and most of them have been good, law abiding citizens who have extra senses. If you want to get rid of the curse (which only has power if you believe) then you need to have a cleaning ceremony. Don't go to your local church for this, you will need to find someone who is wiccan for it. Basically, what they will do is place blessings and positive energys around your house and try to help restless spirits to find peace. Not all witches are boil in trouble kind. I'm not, but heaven help you if you steal my toadstools! lol. True witches or wiccans live by laws of nature, not what the churches dictate. I don't follow wiccan traditions, but live by the laws of nature as much as possible.

I'd do it, but not familiar with folklore your way and I'm a long way a way! lol. My arms would get tired if I had to fly that far and my broom stick is still being serviced! LOL.

I thought you lived in Edinburgh? I know it's got hills round it but I don't know that it could be described as a wilderness lol! However, your house sounds spooky - not sure if I would like that very much because I have an overactive imagination at the best of times.
I'm fairly sceptical about supernatural stuff but I do think things happen that can't be explained. My father used to live in an old coach house and there was definitely something weird going on there. I wouldn't stay on my own in the house even during the day. A couple of nights I stayed there I heard noises like heavy furniture being dragged across the floor of the sitting room which was just underneath the spare bedroom where I was sleeping. It was really loud and no way was it just the noise of the house "settling". It was definitely the sound of something heavy being dragged across a room and it went on for ages - at least half an hour. My father never heard anything! He used to think I was just imagining it until he had a couple of visitors stay there and they heard exactly the same thing.

I believe in the supernatural and witches and things like that. Your house sound like it would be fun to live in. I would make it like a haunted house for halloween. When I was growing up this one guy that live back into the dunes around us he was a sick man though, but he went on a killing spree and he would take people to his house and kill them then incase them into the walls and floors of his house, that was about 30 years ago and to this day the house sets empty and alot of the people that live around the area say that strange things happen at night there but noone has ever wanted to tear it down. Some poeple say that they never found all the bodies so they didnt want to mess with their resting place.

Well, I believe in super natural things that exist around us. And i believe them though I do not actually see them. but witches, i dont know if I would believe in them. i just find it hard to believe that someone is literally riding a broom stick. But it really amazes me, finding some pictures of a real witch.

Hello Xboxboy, i bet you had the best Halloween ...did you hear more curses and more activity?.and when you throw a party next time at that wonderful place please do invite me. I would love to 'interact'. Your mom and dad's place does have a fascinating history. As for believing in Supernatural...if i did not i would not be such a big fan of Harry Potter...in fact i love his world a whole lot better than this. I really wish i was a witch and went to Hogwarts ;) But now no chance! if i was a witch i would have received my letter when i was eleven....too late now...anyway i have not given up hope ;)

Nowadays, we live in modern technology and not suppose to believe in supernaturals or witches. Our scientists not yet found why and where we need to scare of this things because it is related to our physical awareness.
For those who are craven maybe they have too high level of believe and belief, and lack of knowledge about this things. They never know it is just their illusion and we make it harder.

Yes, I do believe in witches. Witches practices withcraft. Witchcraft is an art. Wiccan is a religion in which the witches follow. I actually would like to be one, I have a book in my possession which was authored by a witch. I just need some materials to the some orations.
Witches have been here eventhough people think that they have already been vanquished. Also each and everyone of us can practice the craft. So each and everyone of us can be a witch.

I always hold the opinion of "seeing is believing",and i have never seen the gost with my own eye,so i don't believe there is any gost in the world. When u go into the accident with the scientific method ,i believe it can be explained by natural phenomena. But still some other mysteries have not been explained my scienticif methods,so it can only explained by supernatural things, thus covered with a obsure veil, and frightening those supernature believers. However,it can give us amusements to bear some notions of supernatures in our mind, otherwise all the films ,Tv programes and books related to supernatures can be of no worth. Thanks for your post!!

I don't know if I totally belive in them but the stories like yours makes for great conversation. I personally belive (and this could be totally wrong but I don't care) that if I take great heart in these witch tales and supernatural "things" then I'd be giving power to the devil to take root in my own life.
