Previous Tenants Mail - Do You Get Them? What to Do?

At our rental house, we are still receiving mail, presumably from previous tenants, after 6 months. The mail is mainly from debt collectors, tax departtments, hire purchase comapnies, etc. Every 2-3 weeks we are receiving mail for different people. I rang our local Post office, but all they said was post the mail back with "not at this address". Not much help in my view. Do you get unwanted pre-tenant or similar mail? Any suggestions to easily prevent this from occurring?
