Well dad is due home in about 12 hours or less. I am very nervouse about his return as it's been 7 weeks since he was hospitalized then sent to the home. I've had a lot of time off and am nervous about having to care for him again. There's a lot that has changed as far as how he needs to be cared for now since he has been gone. Walking and or exercise is the biggest. Then we are hoping that he won't have to wear the diapers when he returns home. I have to get some just to be safe but that's embarassing to do. Ugghh!! Hahahahaha! Not looking forward to searching for Depends. HAHAHA! aT LWEAST THEY HAVE THE SELF SERVE CASH REGISTERS SO i DON'T HAVE TO HAVE SOMEONE SEE WHAT i BUY TO A POINT. bUT i AM NERVOUS AND CAN'T SLEEEP DUE TO THE Return of dad Sunday afternoon. Wish us all luck. Thanks all. Chat soon here once dad gets settled in. Well once I do anyhow.

I hope everything goes smoothly for you and your and your dads transition. I know it has to be difficult! I will continue to keep you in our prayers and I hope all goes well. If in fact you do have to go to depends, there is a website that you can order them from http://www.adult-diapers-4-less.com/incontinence-products.htm
I don't know if you would be interested in that, or how the prices are compared to shopping at the store. It's just an option to save you the embarrassment of it. I know I have had to shop for these things for a friend of mine's mom and I got some funny looks hahaha! Anyhow, good luck with the transition and let us know how dad and you are settling in together!

It's the fear of the "unknown" that has you losing sleep and nervous. I know you will handle the transition well. He's your Dad and you will get him through this without even thinking about yourself. As for the Depends..lol..I keep them here for when I have my granddaughter with me...who is 14 by the way (long story). It never bothers me to buy them in fact I never thought that the cashier would think their for me..lolol....maybe we need to wear signs around our necks saying "their not for me"...lolol....relax and enjoy having your Dad home with you.

That's one part that's scary, getting through this without thinking about myself. Anyhow he will be home in less than 4 hours now I think. Sigh! Yeah well I sure hope not to turn red at the store anyhow.

I know what ya mean about buying the Depends. I shop for a client that has me pick up Depends and the Tena pads for her. Thankfully when I am at the checkout she has written a check and I provide my ID for the cashier to let her know that I am her caregiver.
Hope all is going smoothly for you and your family with your Dad returning home. Big huggers to you.

Your dad must be arriving home about now. I am sure he will be nervous too. He will wonder what your expectations are, and if he can meet them. I hope he finds it good to be back home, where things are more personal.

Isn't it crazy and ironic how life is? They change our diapers and take care of us and then the favor is returned! My mom (she'd kill me if she ever read this) has a bit of a weak bladder so she goes to Target with me and puts a BIG Package of them right in my cart..that I'm pushing...ugh! Don't worry GB...once you get a routine down with pops, it'll all be okay.

YIKES!!! I sure hope there aren't any glow in the dark Depends. HAHAHA!!
Well people can do this shoving things in the cart as you push it. It makes it appear they are your diapers. Hee hee. Thanks also.

They're not Depends, but some other smaller ones...however, why the hell do they have to use such bright colors on the packaging?

You seem like a pretty competent and caring guy. If Dad is like you ...at all.. you will both be just fine. And I would not be embarassed at all about buying adult diapers...
You must have heard the joke
Little boy, sitting on Grandpa's lap says - Grandpa, what do you wear - Boxers or Briefs?
Grandpa says - Well....Depends...
Sorry, I am sick, warped and demented.

Hi Grandpa Bob,
Well I see you're 'burning the midnight oil' too! I must get offline though, and get 'some more sleep,' as I did have a nap on the couch earlier. By the way, I haven't been receiving my 'notifications' properly, but I've just signed up for a new 'online messenger,' so 'your topic,' and I'm sure others will too, just popped up at the bottom of my screen. This'll be helpful! Sorry for the ramble here ... but it's late.
I've been thinking about you (and your family), and the return later today, of your dad. That's too bad about 'maybe' having to use diapers. If this is the case, can you start using a bedpan, if he can't get to the bathroom? I'm sure your dad will notice a lot of changes being home again too. I do hope you're able to get him walking, even some. I hope too, that you can get the help that you've applied for in, to take some of the load off you. Please try to get 'at least some' rest before you bring him home. You'll continue to be in my thoughts and prayers, and I'm waiting to see how everything goes, with this adjustment. Take Care.

He has a bedpan/urinal in his room and has used that at night since he moved here many years ago. I think he will be able to get to the bathroom during the day as it's only about 20 feet from his chair in the living room. He seems to be able to walk using a walker. Plus we have the electric lift chair to make it easier to get in and out of it. So that may not be a big problem. But he's been wearing them for 6 weeks or so. Hoping he hasn't become dependant on them is all. I am heading to bed soon as well. Hopefully anyhow. Thanks also for thinking of me and my family as well. It means a lot. Good evening now.

You're welcome. It seems like you've got all of the bases covered for your dad's return. I hope too, that he's not dependent on the diapers, as it would make things very difficult for you, for sure. I hope you're well rested, by the time you read this. Take Care.

By now, I'm sure dad is home and hopefully settled in. Good thing you're having a nurse come in and help with dad. She can show you what to do if your not sure how to do something. As for the Depends, have your wife pick them up on the way home from work. Saves you the embarrassment then. lol I know you pick her up from work but still, you can wait out in the car while your wife runs in/out with the Depends. :-D I also hope that your nerves are settled as well now that dad is home.

First of all, since he's probably home by now, tell him "Welcome" from me! Next, please don't be embarrassed if you have to buy Depends! I'd recommend the cheaper store-brand if you don't have a good coupon for the name brands. I admit I felt a little embarrassed the first time I bought them but my mom, who's almost 91 wears them just in case and -GUESS WHAT? - so do I! Between childbirth and 18 years of lugging heavy mailbags around I've developed a bit of a bladder control problem so I use them for extra security, if you get my drift, and I'm far from alone. It's no biggie at all and the cashiers don't even bat an eye. I wish you all the very best of luck and I hope you get some financial help from the various social services. I see you have a lift-chair; did you already have that or is it new? They are at least partially covered by Medicare as are the parts such as the control. Don't pay out of pocket for anything you can get help with. This isn't asking for hand-outs, it's a simple case of having it coming to your dad for all the taxes he's paid in his lifetime.

Thanks. He doesn't seem to need the diapers as of yet. No biggie if he does though. Going to get some later just for a precaution. The chair is old and used. We got it from his sister after her husband passed away. We also got a potable toilet that hasn't had to be sued yet. Also a toilet seat lifter or whatever. It sits on the toilet to make it easier and closer to sit down on. He also has a bath seat and other items already given to him. We just needa hospital electric bed. That would be great. Thanks again.
