This is just happened in my local university.Actually there are still so many poor student who can't not afford their fees in the college, these group of people need not only the society but also the government's attention.as for my country there is a policy that give finance to those people to help them complete their studies without any interests during their days. This is a really good stradgies for the poor.
As for school ,there is some college the have prepared the poor students with their special window to get their meal, the price in this window is much lower than others and this is just the case in my college.
However, every time we can see that the window for the poor always has no students or only has few student
As school what should we do to the poor?give them special treat or not or some other effective ways to help them without hurting their self-esteem?
Thanks in advance for the sharing..

I certainly believe in helping the poor achieve an education equal to everyone elses.
I do think, however, that it is embarassing for them to have a separate window for getting low cost meals. It makes it obvious to everyone else that they are poor. This may be why you dont see very many of these students lining up at the window.
It would be good if the university could think of ways of helping the poor, without other students knowing.

Having a separate window for them actually is a very bad idea. That will not help them, its like humiliating them. University should help them secretly by asking their friends. Don't ask directly to these poor students cause they will never accept the help. That kind of action will make them feel like they have been insulted by the university. Approach them through their friends.

Yeah, that's true, what the school really do is to help them without making them feel different from others.just as what u said to help them quietly, and to make them have the feeling that being poor is nothing ,and they should concentrate more on their studies rather than using the time thinking of their low statues ,their appearance,or what others think about them .
Actually,if there is nothing in ur mind that's the really called poor,so what's the poor really can do is that to equip themselves to make a great difference in the futrue....
Thanks jennybiancan, thanks for joining this discussion..

Yes, this is a really good policy for the poor students, but the helping way---open separate window for them is not acceptable by them. All the persons have self-esteem,the poor persons' self-esteem are stronger than common people. They do not want others know they are poor, this is a kind of insulting action for them. Providing a part-time job and give money to them is better than open separate window or provide some awards based on their studying status, I think these ways are easy to accept by them.
