Help me decide on an MP3 player

We all know the IPod is the gold standard of MP3 players. But I'm looking at the black Friday ads and seeing some great deals, like a Coby brand 2gig MP3 player for twenty dollars. Has anyone bought one of the "off" brand Mp3 players? Did it have compatibility issues with your computer or any of your file types? Was it difficult to configure? How does the musc manager compare to Itunes? Please share your experience so I can decide if I'd be getting a deal or wasting my money.
