Hello Dbmax41,
I'm sorry to hear that you suffer so from physical dis-ease. If you are interested, I can share some helpful information about RA. Yet, I don't want to intercede, without your consent. So, if you are interested, let me know, and I'll be happy to share.
As for the morphene patches: Morphine is extraordiarily 'hard' on the liver. Very difficult for the liver to filter out. There are alternatives that might be of interest to you.
Have you ever seen a Naturopathic Doctor? Or an Osteopathic Doctor? Given your disc problems, an Osteopath would probably offer you very great relief.
Wishing you bountiful health!

Surely prevention is better than cure. If one wants to give ones best performance then keeping oneself fit is just the first thing one needs to do. We learnt this important fact when we started maintaining a diary and found that most of our expenditure goes on medicines. We then modified our diet chart and cared more for our body and learnt to keep it fit. So we ended up spending up more of our money on healty food rather than on medicines. And moreover we were now in a much better shape to do our duties.

Hi limcyjain, you are very wise! Yes, eating right will make a person much healthier. It is wiser to spend our money making our body healthy than making pharmaceuticals rich. Thx for your response.

Hello MushroomLady,
Prevention is absolutely the key!
I have long lived by a blending of Ayurvedic, and ancient Chinese methods of prevention and early intervention. I also trust and rely on acupuncture, yoga, resonance balancing, homeopathics, proper nutrition, healthy elimination, and the principles of Ida Rolf, for keeping my body 'in tune'.
If I have to rely on Western Medicine for intervention, then as I see it, I've failed to properly attend to my body's needs. There may come a day where I might need western intervention, but that will probably be an uncomfortable day for any doctors in my life. Other than my annual physical, I haven't seen a western doctor for more than half of my life. And, I plan to continue the trend!

Hello MushroomLady,
There are many more supporters of the ancient Chinese & Indian ways, in the USA than you might be aware of. Although, I will add that for many of us who have incorporated, or wholy relied on the ancient Chinese ways, we are more often purchasing those valued herbs from elsewhere, as China has taken to so heavily polluting its resources; Ginseng being a perfect example. Korean grown Ginseng is much more popular here in the last five or so years. Even Yin Chiao is now available from other than China. I do wish that China would better attend to preserving its glorious ancient pharma resources, as I cannot help but be somewhat wary of the Chinese Patent Formulas these days.
I am familiar with Reishi mushrooms, but have never taken them personally. Being from the West, our diets tend to incorporate so much processed sugar that Candida Albicans is a widespread problem here. As such, any kind of fungus can spurr other fungal overgrowth. Yet, I know others who have lauded Reishi's efficacy. My own acupuncturist among them.
I say, in earnest, that I'm thrilled that Reishi has offered you such a dramatic return to balance. Whatever one might say about Chinese Pharma, it's rather difficult to ignore 3,000 years of well documented anectdotal medical intervention & restoration.
Please do keep spreading the word, and take great pleasure from your return to health. It is our most valuable treasure.

hi ladyluna....Great to hear you are on Natural herbs n the chinese holistic way. Not many westerners understands or belief in chinese healing methods which is to balance the body.
For me it's my daily intake of gano-red mushrooms. Also known as Reishi or Lingzhi. B4 I started taking gano, I was told many negativities of it. Then I started to do some 'homework' n checked with real people who hv taken it. Now I swear by my gano cos it not only help treat my 16yrs of sufferings, it is making me feel so healthy everyday. Balance is the key word. Look at my avatar.

Hello Mushroomlady! it is wise to make our body healthy. have a balance diet and exercise regularly to make our body healthy and prevent illness. it is very expensive now a days to get sick. here in our country if you get sick and you have no money, 75 percent you will die of your sickness.... its is better to prevent body illness than treat the illness after it attacks..

Hi bing_r.. Yes, the cost of medications n hospitalization is increasing. Prevention is better than cure. But due to modern lifestyle, polluted air n water, pesticides in food,etc.. degenerative diseases are catching up with us.
These days a child as young as 8yrs old could be suffering from cancer. (M treating her with ganotherapy now). We all know tht it takes bout 10yrs or more for cancer cells to develop. Thanks to the mother, the child has cancer.

I am always of the opinion that prevention is better than cure. It is wiser to take care of your body by doing exercises, developing good eating habits, and so on, instead of waiting till you are so sick that you have to be hospitalised. You will simply be making the doctor rich, that way :)

Yes. Prevention is better than cure. I am trying to lead a healthy lifestyle by exercising regularly and eating well. Other than all these, I think it takes luck to be illness-free too. I've heard of very healthy and fit people being down with illness. That's so unfortunate. =(

It is better to treat body to prvent illness rather than treating illness after it attack. I do not know for what reason you have posted this question, but the concept of treatment in "Flower Medicine"(part of Homeopatic Medicine) is same.
The concept says that it is fear and worry will deplete an individual's vitality; it will cause him to feel out of sorts, below par or not himself. Under these conditions the body loses its natural resistance to disease. It is in a fit state to become the prey of any infection and any form of illness. Therefore it is the patient himself, not the disease, who needs the treatment. It is an absolute exemplar of the old dictum that " there are no diseases, only sick people'! When peace and hormony return to the mind, health and strength will return to the body.
You can gothrough my profile to find a posting on "Flower Medicines" where I have described about this a little more.

Hi mushroom lady! Of course, i would prefer prevention of illness over treating it once it is already there. It goes well with the saying "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure". It means a little precaution before a crisis occurs is preferrable to a lot of fixing up afterward. I truly believe in this dictum. That's why i try to eat healthy and exercise regularly. I make it a habit to buy fruits and multivitamins. I don't scrimp when it comes to my health and nutrition. I'd rather spend a big chunk of my money on food now than save it only pay for hospital bills later.

Hi irene, you are very wise. Exercise is very important for our health. Exercise improves blood circulation n oxygen. Our organs needs all the oxygen we can absorb. Fruits is a must. You shd take fruits b4 meals.Vege is also very important in our diet. Try to reduce multivitamins if your body do not need. I used to load myself with all types of vitamins yrs ago n it leaves a lot of toxins in my body. Take care n god bless you.

Hi mushroomLady, I was surfing the net when I happen to chance your page here at myLot. I would rather prevent all sorts of illness and never go to the cure, and i am now doing this thru the aid of the number 1 mushroom. Just have one question, can you enlighten me on the perceived negative reactions? I think i am undergoing such a stage right now. thanks

In a long run taking care of the body is good but when illness strikes then we have to first treat the illness and then after getting cured we can continue with our lifestyle. One should live life healthy so that he can enjoy life to the maximum.

Hello.
I think some of us take our body for granted. As long as we still feel energetic and healthy, we forget to take care of our body. Like, going to sleep late at night, eating junk foods, etc...
I'd rather treat my body to prevent illness like eating the right food and vitamins so I won't have to regret it.
Thanks for the discussion!

Well, we should treat the body and get rid of the illness. The body should be treated because it is the one being damage because of the illneses. So what we can do is eliminate the illness so that it wont cause more damage and treat the body for the damages caused by the illness. In that way you will recover.

I think it's much easier to live a healthy lifestyle, develop good habits, know how to eat right and get regular exercise - rather than deal with medications or any other therapy after an illness strikes.
Sometimes illness motivates us to seek out and develop healthier habits. Maybe giving up smoking, walking more often, eating less processed or animal based foods - whatever the reason or the solution, it's always better to rely less on medicines.

Of course we have to take care of our body, to prevent illness. But we can't treat an illness we might never get. We can't treat flu if we don't get it first. There are vaccines, but this is not the same as treatment.
