Couch Covers or Sheets or Bedspreads?

Most my friends here have seen p[hotos of my couch, love seat, and recliners covered usually with a sheet. This is due to dads leaky bladder problems but also to keep my Busters fur from being stuck top them. It's a lot of work to vacuum the fur off the pieces of furniture. Especially the couch and love seat. They are made out of a fuzzy material. The fur sticks to it like a magnet drew it there and refuses to let it go. Well here's a photo of the love seat without the cover on it for a change. HAHAHA! I don't think I've ever had a photo posted of them without a sheet on them. So that's what actually prompted this discussion. So do you use, or own the fancy type of "couch covers"? Or are you like me and go the cheap route using a sheet, blanket, or bedspread? For really nice looking and quality covers I am looking at over $400 for the couch, love seat, and 2 recliners. So that's why I choose the sheets etc. HAHAHA! Do you hate when it's shedding season and the fur flies all over the house? I want to shave my dog as bare as a babys behind at times. HAHAHA! That won't happen. Dad and my wife would kill me.

This discussion is fairly relevant to me. My dogs dont come inside (well, the minifox terrier can sometimes), so dog hairs on the lounge aren't a problem.
What is a problem is cats SCRATCHING on the lounge. The lounge in my family room is ruined.
I looked at the fancy couch covers, & it would cost e about $250.00 to cover the whole lounge set.
We can buy these "couch throwovers" which I have been looking out for, preferably on special.

Any cat we have ever owned we had declawed so to avoid the scratching. Now that was also due to our children being small. I don't think I'd declaw one now if we were to get a new cat. I owned a Spider Monkey back in the era;ly 70's and she tore up the walls and chandeliers terribly. HAHAHAHA!!

I didn't know this. So it's breaking the law to declaw a cat then? Hmmm? This is actually encouraged here in most States. Thanks.

We don't believe in this in Australia. No vet will ever do it. In fact, it is possible if a person tried to declaw their cats themselves, they would be prosecuted by the RSPCA.

Hi grandpa bob...
I only had one sofa that is located at my living room. Since I do the sewing I measured my couch and try to make one cheap sheet so my dog also will not accidentally scratch the couch. I'm making another one with floral design. Have a nice day....

We don't cover ours with anything. Our couch and love seat are different colors (darker colors)and our recliner is burgandy so if anything got on there you more than likely wouldn't see it. When our dog was alive she didn't shed hardly any so I never had to worry about fur getting on there. I used to clean this lady's house and she would cover her chairs and things with a sheet because she had animals in the house. I took the sheets off once a week so she could wash them and I put clean ones back on the furniture for her.

Well we actually started to cover the furniture due to dad when he first moved in. he had an incontinence problem. So to avoid washing the furniture we'd wash the sheets. Now that's not a problem but the dog fur is so we have left them in place. HAHAHAHAHA!!

In my family, we never use sheets or bedsheets Grandpa Bob. We all have our couches and seat covers custom made to fit like a dream. LOL! Since me and my mother knows how to make covers for couches among other things, we don't really get to spend that much. We just spend on the materials and do all the work. We also do the covers and curtains too of other people in our neighborhood. Sort of extra income for us.

i usually go to this place called job lot locally and get some covers that tie it on there.they're usually not too expensive, because the whole store is merchandiser's end lots and over order type things.
surplus,in other words.
i wish i could use a bedspead but it's too dangerous for ma-she caught part of one on her heel and almost took a header once.

I tie the ends and backs in a knot to avoid hanginf material near
or on the floor. So it's ugly but serves the purpose. HAHAHA!!

I found some really inexpensive, but fairly heavy fabric and have used it to cover my furniture. I also have gone to WalMart when they have had four dollar blankets, and put matching blankets on all of my furniture. I even feel free to cut them to fit even better. I will use sheets. I like to change things around, so I cannot afford $400 to cover the furniture.

I have thought about buying just some material from the sewing department as well. But for now sheets and or blankets look decent enough. It's not like I have a ot of visitors anyhow. HAHAHA!!

We very bravely have one naked couch. It's white with blue stripes (and a stray red marker stripe and a few chocolate spots). The love seat has a real cover but it doesn't fit right and is always coming off. Right now it just has a sheet on it. The old couch was covered with a twin size comforter from my bed.

Oh the dreaded stains. I am surprised my grandsons have not stained
my furniture yet. HAHAHAHA!! I tie the sheet in a knot in back to
make a snug fit. Also to keep the excess from hanging down making
a possible fall issue for dad.

Yeah we are planning on after the holidays looking at the thrift
stores and or dollar stores for cheap sheets, blankets etc for this purpose. I can't afford that much for "real" covers. HAHAHA! Thanks.
