if your child was given there choice each night for dinner what would you be making?? My husband works second shift and its just my 6 year old daughter and i home all evening we mainly have big meals/ dinners on the weekends when we are all at home together. but through out the week its prety much whatever you want night in my house. I will ask her that morning or a few hours before dinner time what she wants for dinner.. well shes pretty much narrowed done my weekly dinners to mac & cheese with hot dogs. or grilled cheese sandwhiches with spaghetti o's to chiken nugget meals.. etc etc.. thats all she would ever asked for.. well recently i trhew in some mixes of spaghetti and meatballs and toniht i made some chicken and rice.. i was so thrilled to have some " real food" but she was upset that we didnt have grilled cheese sandwhiches. tomorrow is mac and cheese night according to her... lol so what would your weekly dinners consit of if your child was given the choice each night? please share

I think my son would ask for bean burritos. He loves those! He's a big fan of yogurt and oatmeal too, which we have about 98% of the time for breakfast. My little girl who is 13 months, if she could ask, LOVES hotdogs. She's a good eater, and will eat most anything, but hotdogs are definitely a favorite, which is scary as she only has 2 teeth ;) I also give her avacado a lot, which she really likes too. I usually make lunches kind of a fruit and veggie time, and maybe throw in a slice of bread with butter. We eat pretty naturally around here, so I like to keep them used to eating non-processed whole foods.

If my 5yo daughter had her way we would eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for lunch and dinner every day. no matter what I make she complains she doesn't like it and then suggests she make a PB&J for herself. When my husband was working nights I always made the easy stuff because it was pointless to make a big meal for just me and the kids but try to sneak some veggies in for her. My kids love mac & cheese with hamburger and peas in it (it is especially good with the shells and cheese kind of macaroni). They request it all the time and it is the only way I can get them to eat peas, lol. I got my oldest to start eating them because I explained when peas are cooked just right they will "pop" in your mouth. she was intrigued and next thing I knew she was asking me to make macaroni with peas, lol. I also buy spaghetti sauce with veggies in it or add my own. My kids love their veggies. I know if I don't make some "real" food a few times a week I feel like crap. All that processed food gets to me after awhile. So at least twice a week I make chicken with veggies and some kind of healthy side dish (which is usually when my 5yo protests and wants PB&J).

My daughter is a strange shild, she actaully likes eating fairly healthy. If she had her way we would eat some type of fish every night. No one else in our family even likes fish, but she loves it. My son is a junk food junkie, lol. He would choose hot dogs or pizza. Some of my kids other favorite foods are roast beef, chili and ribs and lasagna.

Well I am sorry but I don't think children should choose their food EACH night ... when it can be fun to have 1 "free choice" day per week, children need a balanced diet. And themselves don't really know what is good for their body as opposed as what is good to the taste. So they really need you there to make healthy choices for them because you are building their future eating habits ... so their health! If you need easy balanced recipes where you can "sneak in " vegetables in the meals and the kids would still eat it I would be happy to share them with you :)

I am very happy to hear that because nowadays so many kids are only fed on junk and fast food ... hence the rising problem of obesity And it is very good that she likes fruit and vegetables ... in this situation then I think you can keep on letting her choose her meals :)

My children do not get to choose the evening meal.If they do not like what we are having.which usually is my middle child. He will pick a peanut butter and jelly sandwich or ramen noodles or hot dogs. He is not a big fan of Beef unless it hamburger. But he does like his brocolli.

My kids are the same way. We do that for lunch. My husband is home in the evenings most the time so that is our family meal. Lunch is a free for all. Their choices are usually either mac and cheese, peanut butter and jelly or juicy noodles(raman noodles) The funny thing is they ask for them all the time but they are tired of them so they barely eat...but they keep asking for them lol.

my little girl is so picky but I am sure she would say taco Bell. That is her number one anytime I ask whats for dinner of course she dont always get it man. Dont get me wrong taco Bell is in my interest but I cant eat it everyday. She was upset the other day that we had Pork Chops, potatos, apple sauce, and corn on the cob. I mean come on that is a good home cooked meal there girl but i guess times have changed.
