If you eat in moderation, it shouldn't make you fat. Most Asians eat rice at least once a day - how many fat Asians know?

Yes you are right. I am an Asian and I eat rice twice a day sometimes thrice. I am not fat infact I am petite. In the evening I try to limit my rice intake to only 4 tablespoons so I won't get stuck with a lot of stored carbs when I go to sleep.

I guess this depends on whether you subscribe to the idea that carbs make you fat?
Since rice = carbs really.
I would say.. everything in moderation.:P

You are right. Eating rice would not make you fat unless you eat excessively or you have a bad eating habit. If you are concerned about the rice, there are many types of rice in the market and some of them are good for people with health problems.

my wife is from the Philippines and she also spent six years working in Japan so of course she ate a lot of white rice..but our Philippines Doctors have told her to cut back on the white rice as it is bad for her blood sugar..(diabetes.) but i am like you. i think portion control is the key to diet success..as in moderation i don't think any food is that bad...but what you have to look for is foods that trigger your blood insulin level and an inbalance of insulin is what causes the hunger to increase and thus the more you eat the more you have to burn off or you will gain the weight...look at most married people..after the first year of marriage both men and women gain about 10 to 15 pounds in the first year...to much of a good thing?

I strongly disagree that eating rice will make you fat. Eating rice is no different from eating bread, cookies, cakes, pasta and other food rich in carbohydrates. Cut back these foods from your diet and combine your effort with exercise. The calories you've consumed must be burned so as not to be absorbed by your body. One simple rule for not getting fat is to eat in moderation. Remember that eating does not make you fat, but eating an excess in carbohydrates does.
