during the teen years of my mom she was rushed to the hospital and under went as operation, sue to the blocking of the appendix with feces, foreign objects and rarely tumor.
when i was growing she always reminds me to remove tomato seeds before eating it. she told me that the doctor told her about removing the seeds of tomatoes before eating it. whether it is raw or cooked. now that i am an adult i no longer do that. because i see mostly of good cooks on tv and they do not take of the seeds of the tomatoes. they eat it and served it as is.
do you have any knowledge about this?

maybe it is true but it is not yet proven. tomato seeds are too small so it can cause (maybe) appendicitis. your mom was extra careful so you wont under go operation. to see the bright side of it atleast up to now you have no signs of appendicitis. if i were you since y ou already doing it why do you have to stop now. prevention is better than cure.

This sounds like one of the many old wives tales that we were told as a child. for example, don't swallow gum - it stays in your stomach for 7 years. For all the gum I swallowed, as a kid, I would not have had room to eat after 6 months.

Although, I hate tomatoes, I can not say that this is true of them. I have never heard of this before. I have seen my aunt eat whole tomatoes straight from the vine. It's hard to believe that they are a fruit. But, they are very good for you.

I don't think it is true. We eat tomatoes with seeds, it is so troublesome to remove them. And we have no problem at all. My mom told me that if you have excited sports after a meal, and it is likely to cause the appendicitis.

Yes, as far as i know appendicitis is caused by blockages of feces, seeds and sometimes invasion of bacteria in the appendix. But then i think no research yet has proven the validity regarding the eating of tomatoes. Nonetheless, i did long ago start removing tomato seeds when cooking as precautionary measure. When i eat guava i also don't eat the portion with the seeds. Sounds silly but for me i have nothing to lose in doing this anyway.
