I can't imagine myself reading a 1000+ pages novel. 300+ pages novel is so hard for me, how about 1000+ pages? People who love reading, and are addicted to reading are called "bookworm". I just wonder how they can do that. Interest? Talent? Desperate to learn? Whatever it is , is there any secret to be a reader? Aside from hardworking and determination.

I believe that some people are just born with a love for reading. I have loved reading all my life, but never realized it until I was in my thirties. Reading was just a normal part of what I did all the time. I get very excited when going to the library. Buying a new book is a real treat for me. I can get into a good book and completely lose track of time. Once I read a 1000 page book in five days and I recently read a 101 page book in eight hours. I do not know if you can train yourself to love reading. Some people just do enough to get by. Some people love to read, but are not able to anymore for lots of readng. So I think God that I am still able to.

love for reading?...maybe it's a God-given talent.. because.. for me.. it's hard to read that long.. reaching 50 pages in a day is a big achievement for me.. because the time i've grown tired ... i'll put the bookmark.. and then.. do something else.. it's hard to read when there's a computer nearby.. because "why read when you can get the plot on the net?!"., well.. i know it's wrong.... we're losing the essence of reading the book.. i think i should lessen my watching of t.v and put myself into reading.. thanks! it helped me a lot..

You have to have balance. But fifty pages at a time is not bad.

I am a reader, aka bookworm. I have always love to read and since I have been reading constantly most of my life I read very quickly. Books are like an addiction to me, I just can't get enough and I will read almost anything within reason. Although my favorite genre is fantasy and vampire books. I have read a few 1000+ page books where they publish them as two parts in paperback. If the story is intriguing then I would rather have the 1000 pages then the 300 as I get to enjoy it longer. I never watched much tv as a child and still don't b/c I would rather be reading. I have always been this way. And I was read to as a child by both my parents and my grandparents so that could have had something to do with it. Happy Reading.

People who grew up without TV and computers are bigger readers I think. Like you said, why take the time to read when you can find what you need to know online or be entertained with tv. Reading is a very relaxed and relaxing activity. I don't think a lot of people know how to relax. Especially if their life is ruled by their 'to-do' lists! It's too hard to slow down enough to enjoy a good book when you've got items on your list pressing you to action!

hi excloudstrife! Well, I also cant imagine reading more than 100 pges. I also do wonder how people read 1000 page novels. I am not addicted to reading but I like reading. I usually read short novels of around 100-300 pages. I have never read a novel lengthing more than 300 pages..... I think those people are addicted to reading. Reading such a long novels is not an easy job. I have a freind who belongs to the same category. He loves reading and we can say him a complete bookworm litteraly. He reads novels that are very big in length. He probably cant sleep until and unless he reads something. He is addicted to reading completely. No matter where ever he goes, he always carry a story book or a novel with him. I cant understand how can one get addicted to reading, I mean dont they get bored! Sometimes, I also get confused wether reading is the hobby of such people or is it their passion for reading that make them read such a big novels!

There is really no trick to reading big books other than not being intimadated by them. If you have read 3 300 page books, then you have almost finished a 1000 page book. If you find a book that really interests you, the amount of pages in that book won't matter, if fact if it is interesting enough, you may think 1000 pages aren't enough.

I used to do this, but I really do not have the time anymore. I have so much that is going on in my life that when I do get time to read a book, I make sure it is a small one.

Interest are developed and influenced. Sometimes even if you can't immagine yourself reading tons of book pages, when a time comes that you have an interest and requires you to read, you would not notice you already have read so much. Hey... accept my invitation for friendship so we can send each other PM. Have a great day and God Bless

I love to read and to be honest the bigger the book the better. I love huge books because I get to grow familiar with the characters and spend more time with them. I'm thinking you have yet to find the kind of books you like, the kind of books that grab you and don't let you put them down. There isn't any hardwork in reading books (well it does depend on what you're reading) only relaxation and fascination. One of my favorite quotes is "Words create worlds" - because that's exactly how it happens, when you read a book a world takes life all around you. Believe me, searching for the plot on the Internet is nothing like this and neither is watching the TV :)

I don't think there is really secret in that. You just have to find book, what interest you. Something you would be curious about, what is gonna happen next. I love to read too and yeah i was scared at the begining, I won't be able to read such a huge book, but I did it.It was in my language. Then i was scared to read such a huge book in english and I did again. You just have to find some really good author.

I do love to read... I wouldn't care much how much time I spend on reading whenever I am hooked into a book! I care less about the number of pages too! Hehehehe... I usually read computer programming books, Greek and Roman mythology, history and of course the pages of the Holy Book. :D
