Dear Friends,as you all know all past weekend I spend with family,friends and New wine!Today I have terrible headache!I deserve it!I was such hedonist!I am again in capital city were I help ma daughter with her children because she is still a student!She is on University of Zagreb and she study to be a teacher of ethic and philosophy!After such a strong and nice nature in Dalmatia/part of Croatia were I was born and there are my house/,I return in big city and foggy weather!I am alone here, with my headache, and I start think about little episode with ma good friend,from day before!During our nice celebration on St.Martin Day one young men stop off my house!He was in old and dirty clouts, with big, big blur eyes!!He came and ask me if I have some food or money for him!!I saw how desperate he is,and I decided to help him!!I invited him in my home and i ask him if he would like to take shower fist and I explained him that we have a open house for whole Day and that he is welcome too!He was so surprise and what to help me on any way!!I asked him what he know and he answered that he is an painter!He was so determined to help me that I said OK. we have a long white wall in front of garden and if you like you can start paint it!In our garage we have a lot different paints!After good meal and glass of wine he start with his art!I forgot him until evening when my friend came to me and ask me what am I doing with that dirty hobo!She was so angry and told me that I am an old stupid grandma!I was surprised with such rude language and i told her that she can find a door!She went home and I spoke with hubby and he was surprised with her reaction too.She is an well known social worker!Question is she such a good person as she think she is?I will be happy to have your opinion!Thanks Silvana

Honey I know that you are a very nice person. Well I wont except just anyone into my home (but then again this is Australia and thing like that are simply not done because more often than not people like that mean trouble). But yes I help people in need a lot. I would give them what I can some money, some clothes food and drink I have no problem with that, I just dont know if I would let a man come inside my house.
I know that you were probably not alone in the house so that would be ok by me. If I had bunch of people around I would probably do what you did and help the man.

Dear,you know that we here have no problem with lot of criminal and i am not afraid of anyone even if I am alone at home!!That particular Day I was arounding with more than 40 peoples!!The Best thing in our liefs is when we can help each other!!See You Silvana

Hello aaidjs. I am sorry that your friend said so rude words to you because of your inviting the poor young guy to paint the wall. She is not right to look down upon him. Who knows what will happen to someone in the future as we do not exactly know what it will be? I hope that my dear friend aaidjs is now ok with your friend. I guess that she knows that she is wrong now for her being impolite to you. Cheer up, friend.

Good deal for both of you with the painting etc done. Up at the farm north of me they work on the barter system. I used to do a lot of farming help for some of the neighbors up there. In return for a 12 hour day I would get a side of beef cut for me to take home. Then some people work on other farmers equiptment and get free crops or whatever services this farmer did. the bartering used to be very common in the States. Too many scary episodes lately have scared many people from allowing a stranger from being near yet alone in their home, or property.

I really believe that your friend's reaction is really rude, she should've asked you first before assuming such things and jumping into her own conclusion. I believe that what you did is great, though it is really hard to trust other's nowadays, you still helped the man.
I guess your friend is one example of those people who judges other's simply because of their appearance, they would not care less because she is too selfish and insensitive.
I really wish that more people in this world are like you, but maybe it depends on the place you live. Just continue what you feel is right for you, don't let others influence you just because they don't like what they see on you!;)

Your friend only help as a social worker because it makes her look good in the community.
She could not care less about the poor. All she is interested about... is her own selfishness.
This is the case for most people giving money to charity work. They give money because it is tax deductible and it makes them look good. None of them would give a job to a poor person needing one... much less invite him in their home.
And when a decent person like Madonna adopt a dying child... she is pounced on by the media and accused to use her money to buy a child.
Lets face it... we live in a very sick world.

Hi,there! I think some people really have the inner superior feeling for themselves. It's sth inside of their hearts and they had it when they were very young.I don't like those people when they say sth but they do that in an opposite direction.I never think it's right to despise other people just becaue of their apperances. Actually you can't tell how the people are only judging by their apperances. I dislike such insights and inner feelings. Not everybody is arrogant and think he himself is the best. The lady is not very respectful to the guy and what she said was not right and not nice at all.

Beeing good and decent always shows by the persons action. thinking about it will soon act out the thought. If we really like to be that then the concequence it that we act that way. However if anyone wants to project that image, but is not inside will have a hard time. What you are inside will always show in time.

LOL, Silvana! I asked how you would feel the next morning, didn't I? Well, by now we all hop you are feeling better and we know your hubby is feeling fine because he drank milk! My hubby watches all of the court TV programs and sees so many cases where people like your young friend are hurt by the people who help them or end up hurting their helpers. It makes one want to be very careful in trusting strangers. So many people think it is easier to knock somebody off than work, it seems.
So I will reserve judgment on your new painter "friend" until I have seen the wall! If you go out in the morning and find the Mona Lisa on it, then your social worker friend will owe him an apology. Meanwhile, she certainly owes YOU one! How dare she call you stupid? Even if she thought she had your best interest at heart, there is a better way to say such a thing.
But seriously, I'm sure we all want to know...did he do a good job of painting? We have a cartoon show for adults on US TV called the Simpsons and one episode was where the woman of the house tried to do good by teaching art to the prisoners and one fellow was very talented and so she forgot that he was a dangerous prisoner. It was a funny show, but also a reminder that sometimes people get where they are for a reason and well-meaning help can go awry.
Be kind, dear friend, but also be careful.

Some people suspect bad things because thats the way they think... they know that they have no kindness and no trust inside of them, and they believe all other people feel the
same way.
My Poppa told me to be cautious around compassionate people, because for some, its an excuse to feel superior and to look down on those who are less fortunate.
That is not why we help each other! You are a good person, it shows in your posts. Its too bad you had to see this side of your friend.

It's better to mind your own business and do what you want. If other people don't agree with what you do or say, that's their problem and just goes to show that they haven't figured out how to mind their own business yet. Nothing for you to get upset about because she doesn't agree with you.
