Yesterday I saw a bull lying on the road. It was badly wounded. Must have had an accident or something. It could hardly move a muscle. I could easily see in its eyes the pain it was having, and the slow death aproaching it. I knew it were gonna die as there is almost no animal activists or care takers here where I live. Its very difficult to see as it hurts to see something die like that. I hope I could have done something for that bull, but there was nothing in my power. No not even killing it. The same thing happend this morning as well. I saw an injured dog. Was quite thin and weak, could even move. Was only looking at the passer bys with helpless eyes. I could do any thing at all. It hurts me to be so helpless. I need to know whether its me who is this helpless or are there others as well who feel for these poor creatures. What would one of you guys do, if one day you saw an animal dying on the road, who can't even move a muscle to help itself?? Will you take the weight of its responsibility and care, or can you give it a mercy killing, or will you just walk away, leaving it to its fate?? Answer me as I feel really bad seeing and not able to do anything at all.

Like you, I HATE seeing injured animals. It hurts me to see their pain. But I always will try to help them, eve if that help is making them as comfortable as possible and keeping them company as they die. I would not be able to kill an animal unless it was absolutly drastic (the worst images come to mind, I don't think they could happen!). But that starving dog, I def. would have gotten it in my car, brought it home and tried to nurse it back to health. I think it is always possible to help a starving animal, they can regain strength. But I'm not sure what anyone could have done for that bull. I probably would have sat at the side of the road with it's head in my lap for a long time!

Yeah I to thought of bringing that dog home but it was badly injured in one of its back legs and was not even able to move its tale, and its bones were clearly countable due to the lack of nutrition it had faced. Actually am just a college student and I hardl\y have enough money or strength to nurse the dog and take its responsibility. That makes me feel more bad about my helplessness. I just hope I could have been able to do something. Any ways thanks for sharing in your views and sharing my problems.

Well you can't make yourself feel too bad! "You can't save everything..." that's what my mom and dad always have to tell me. And I hate it, but I know it's true! Poor puppy! I hope someone did stop and get it, even if to only make it comfortable for its last few days!

Speaking of hurtin' animals. I see that there is a big scandal in Puerto Rico. Thousands of pet animals have been found - all ruthlessly killed. djbtol http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D8STKGM81&show_article=1

It must then be some really heart less person to do so to such helpless beings. what harm are they to any body. The person doing so must really be frustrated with life. Any ways thanks for your response. God Bless YOU

Animals are animals, and animals are not people! In days gone by, many people would have been able to shoot an injured horse or a rabid dog without a second thought. Now, like you are expressing, most people are more sentimental, and I am in the same boat. If you were not able to help the animal or take it somewhere for help, I do believe it would have been a good thing to end the suffering. (Maybe you have a friend that likes to hunt). Don't get me wrong, when it comes to people, then mercy killing is not an option. djbtol

Ya with people in our site instead of animals, we always like to keep possibilities, moreover there arer more authorities to help us in that too. As for animals they don't even have proper authorities or hospitals to be taken to. Moreover with peopel you can find the relatives who can pay the treatment charges that you could not afford. Its not the same with animals. They can't give the money for their treatment or medicines, so if you can't afford it yourself, you can't do anything.

I haven't a clue.I would at least try to give it it's l;ast drink of water, as animals dying on the road must be really thirsty but I would have no idea as I am not a vet to know how to heal the animal if I could heal it. I would look around for more help locally and see if I could save the animal but I think I am quite useless and helpless in that respect.

I feel bad for seeing animals outside the house (e.g. homeless cats) It's heartbreaking when seeing sick or dying animals on the street. If you are in U.S., you can search for animal control / shelter near that place. Maybe you can call 311 and see if anyone can help out.

When I see an injured animal it breaks my heart. Especially when there is nothing I can do to help it. The thing is though, if it was that badly wounded that it needed to be put down, I couldn't do that either! I can't harm an animal (except spiders) even when it's taking it's last breath. It's not really in the same league but I had a couple of mice and one of them was dying and my boyfriend at the time told me the nicest thing to do would be to put it out of it's misery. I couldn't do it, I physically couldn't let myself terminate it's life. I couldn't let him do it either. I don't know whether that is because some part of me thought it could still live, or whether I'm just weak, but I completely understand where you are coming from! It's an awful feeling, but it's true!

Ya its real aweful, when you can't help them. I don't have the guts of even going close and taking a close look at them as then it hurts more to know that I can't help it in any way. That I can't put away its misery in any way. Its really really sad. I just hope that there were more animal activists here. I could have easily given them a call about hurt animals. Any ways thanks for your views. Take Care May GOD Bless YOU
