Does anyone else get involved with Civil War reenactments or living history events? I just participated in my first one 2 weeks ago and am going to be joining a unit here in Missouri this next year and going to several of the events around here. Just wondering if anyone else in MyLot participates in them or has friends that do. They are so much fun and educational. I've met some wonderful friends doing this. A weekend of living in the 1800's, cooking over a fire, sleeping in tents and dressing in the time period. Watching the battles, and talking with locals about the history of the characters we portray is truly a lot of fun. Anyone else involved in this?

They are a lot of fun. I never was a real history buff until I starting going to the events. Then I was hooked. Life was so simple back then and I've met quite a few historians who have been doing this for years and are very well educated in the Civil War history. I'm so looking forward to next April, where our first event will take place up in Iowa. Lots to get ready for, materials for the dresses and all the accessories. It's a fun hobby, but can get expensive.
